How does Ronald McIntosh keep getting work?

in the old days when doing radio commentary the presenter had to describe everything for the listener.
with the advent of TV the viewer can see for themselves what's happening. the presenter only needs a few comments a round.
I think nobody has told McIntosh. it's like the wife telling me in detail what she's bought for everybody at Christmas while I'm reading the paper.

How tall is McIntosh? I remember seeing him stood next to one of the really big/tall heavies (although I've forgotten who it was now) and he was still a fair bit taller than him! He's like effing lurch.

He interviewed Tyson Fury after one of his comeback warm ups and seemed to have a bit of height on him which isn't a good look for the big fellas because part of their selling point is that they're these monsters that are practically another species and then big lurch comes in with his microphone and dwarfs them.

To suggest, as some have, that he gets the work because of his ethnicity, is in pretty poor taste. He does a good job and is more than qualified for the role and whilst his delivery may not be everyone’s cup of tea, other viewers enjoy it.

No one is going to please everyone, as we are a diverse audience, who have different tastes.

He is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, doesn’t have an agenda to push and is impartial.

Sure he may have a few flaws to iron out and constructive criticism is probably welcome but keep it respectful.

Chances are he comes on these forums, and to read some of the earlier comments wouldn’t be very pleasant for him. He isn’t earning millions of tax payers money from the BBC like some of their host and presenters.

I just cannot believe that either Smith or McIntosh sent their cv’s into Sky sports, attended an interview panel and were the most qualified and impressive candidates.

There has got to be more to both their appointments.

To what extent has he been around the game! Adam Smith is certainly enthusiastic too as are the posters on the forum!
And also knowledge? I'm sure Adam smith could list off all the world champions etc but for me he understands little about boxing. Knowledge is one thing, especially if you have a script! Understanding is quite different.
I do appreciate live tv is very difficult and this is where people often get caught out by their lack of understanding.

We don’t exactly have a high standard of commentary in our sport. For me, Mallinagi is pretty good; Bellew used to be good before his “fame”. Bunce i have always found a bit annoying: I can’t stand Adam Smith and Froch. I think Dave Allen might be a good shout in future... Roy Jones used to be able to read a fight well when he used to commentate. It’s a tricky one, because everybody has an agenda. It’s such an ego driven sport.

Anyway Big Ron is one of the better ones.
