Boxing must be one of the only sports where a stadium is full of fans who in general know nothing about the sport they are watching
Nah, football is similar at the highest levels. Go to a Premier League game these days and it’s full of tourists & casuals who are there for a big day out and probably couldn’t even name a handful of players outside those playing for the top 6. The number of actual ‘hardcore’ football fans is a similar percentage to boxing, if not lower because it’s so popular with casuals.
