The Charlos were exposed

Post by Skalamanga »

They were getting hyped up way too much. Plenty of people were saying jermall was gonna whoop Gennady Golovkin! absulutey laughable.
These brothers are Peterson bros level in ability, rather than Klitschkos level. The people who hyped them for years don't have a clue about boxing.

The one at 160 is the better fighter. The one at 154 is pretty average, though. Harrison is a guy that you need to stop in order to show that you're elite. He also struggled hard with Martirosyan.

Yeah, they were definitely exposed on that card. I knew Korobov would be Charlo's toughest test, though. Still, you have to put the fight into perspective. Korobov didn't have a full training camp under him, he had to make weight on short notice, and he was half-way retired with sporadic fights. If you watch Korobov's last fight, it's insane how useless it was for him. I just can't believe Korobov pulled it off with just about everything against him.

True. Same people that hyped Charlo and thought he would challenge an old GGG are the same people that said that GGG must prove himself against Lara and Ward some time ago. lol
The irony made that both Charlos got boxed by two -B level fighters and even now the GGG's detractors don't admit that Charlos got exposed.

Yup. I'd like to see the remtches. Also a past beaten Trout gave Charlos a fight.

I don't know if I'd say they were "exposed". Maybe if you thought they were something other than what they were in the first place they were, but I've never bought into the idea that they were the premier guys in their weight classes so I'm not too shocked by their recent performances.

I am surprised at the judging in the Jermell vs Harrison fight though.

Korobov is an elite boxer with an exception of a mediocre chin. He came motivated and proved that even at his age, he is still a top dog. His chin and his unpreparedness to how to handle being hurt before the Lee fight ruined his career. Everybody knows that he is extremely dangerous and brings nothing to the table. Jermall proved that he is a solid contender, but not the same level as the top MWs.

This is what happens when really good, NAIVE, talented boxers see that spectacular knockouts are what sells and leads to PPV money.

Both Charlos have the talent to box and win fights on points over most but they want to be better than that. They want the cars, the prostitutes, the fanfair.... you only get there by spectacular knockouts. Both bypassed easy victories to get those KOs and neither accomplished it. I felt both lost but I’m in the minority. They both blew it though because they not only lost fans but lost their invincibility. That, I’d argue is sometimes the biggest loss you could have inside the ring. Ask Mike and Buster.
