Charlo-Korobov Fox Tripleheader Peaked At 2,421,000 Viewers

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

The “PBC Fight Night on FOX” tripleheader still attracted respectable viewership. According to figures released Thursday by Nielsen Media Research, FOX’s three-bout broadcast from Barclays Center in Brooklyn drew the second-highest viewership of any boxing telecast this year in the United States.

An average of 1,971,000 viewers watched FOX’s entire telecast, which ran for approximately three hours and 15 minutes. The broadcast attracted a peak audience of 2,421,000 during the main event between Jermall Charlo and Matt Korobov.

Including FOX Deportes (135,000 viewers) and FOX’s streaming platforms (8,184 viewers), the average viewership of the show was 2,114,184.

FOX is available in roughly 120 million homes in the United States, approximately 33 million more than ESPN, a basic cable channel. FOX’s four boxing broadcasts in 2018 averaged 1,254,000 viewers, 337,000 more than Top Rank’s 14 telecasts averaged on ESPN in 2018 (917,000).

So, 2 million of casual fans witnessed bad decisions for the main two fights. I am wondering if they will tune up again.

You can’t say it was 2m casual fans.. it was probably fans that don’t miss out on boxing.. but might watch Showtime etc. fights on Youtube because they don’t have a sub.

I don't think that there are even 400k knowledgeable boxing fans in the US, so 2m were definitely casual.

The bad cards on HBO did around 500k to 600k.. we had a thread here a while ago.. came to a conclusion there is around 600k hardcore boxing fans that will tune in live to any boxing fight as long as it’s on. Obviously HBO is sub based.

Also, why would casuals tune into Charlo’s? They not exactly main stream.

I believe it's more than 500-600k. I wonder how many real fans dvr or record fights to watch later or at a more convenient time, although watching live is way better.

Yehh I think so too. A lot of fans on here always say they’re gonna catch it on Youtube a few days later.

Solid numbers, but they both got screwed here. This was supposed to be their showcase, and they both struggled hard with their opponents. Looked average that night and one ended up crying. :OhYes:

Glad more people got to see Korobov, though. Not sure what Korobov will do now. He's likely going to be ducked like hell.

I loved watching Korobav. A bit of a throwback complete boxer. Great technique and I thought he won that fight.

Watch his last fights after Lee, though. You're going to hate watching him and wonder how the hell he beat Charlo. He looks so damn good when he fights a top guy or someone that is worthy enough to bring out the fire in him.

His fights against no-hopers look more like he's trying out moves instead of trying to win. Anyways, I always liked Korobov. Always thought he would've made prime Golovkin look human for six rounds--before his awful stamina got him stopped.

Those sneaky body counters look so damn epic. Someone needs to make .gifs of those. Charlo looked like he was in pain in the 12th trying to throw punches.

Why is NOBODY around me is a boxing fan? Literally, I can say that for sure about at least 70-80 people I know well enough.

I'm pretty much the only real boxing fan in my group of friends and relatives. When I was a teenager, there seemed to be those types all around. PPV didn't help.
