Tony Harrison wants Kell Brook if no Charlo or Hurd rematches

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Newly crowned WBC junior middleweight champion Tony Harrison (28-2, 21 KOs) says he’d interested in traveling to the UK to face former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (38-2, 26 KOs), if he doesn’t face former WBC 154 pound champion Jermell Charlo (31-1, 15 KOs) in a rematch or if he doesn’t face IBF/WBA champion Jarrett Hurd in a unification fight, according to Thaboxingvoice.

“If it’s not [Jarrett] Hurd, then it’s Charlo. If it’s not Charlo, then it might be someone like Kell Brook,” Harrison said to Thaboxingvoice in talking about his next fight. “That’s probably the last option for me. I even heard Errol Spence might move up.”

This is arguably Brook’s best chance of winning a world title at junior middleweight, if he chooses to push for the Harrison fight. Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing wants him to fight Amir Khan in March or April. That’s the fight that Hearn wants. If Hearn can’t make the Khan-Brook fight for the first quarter of 2019, then it’s possible that he might let Brook go after a fight with Harrison for his World Boxing Council 154 lb title. Unfortunately, there’s a small window for Hearn to try and setup the Brook vs. Harrison fight, and it’s likely that he’ll miss it. Hearn’s is trying to make the bigger money fight for Brook against Khan, and that’s the one that he’s going to focus on.

Harrison said he'd give Jermell a rematch, Jermell said a rematch would take place within 4 months.. Don't see how that won't happen..

I doubt Hurd vs. Harrison happens..

Brook is mandatory for Hurd, but Harrison, who punches hard as well, would be the easier option to capture a belt. I saw easy, I still mean tough task..

Harrison is pulling a Charles Martin.. Coming to the UK, get paid decent money and all in all, if he wants to, he could retain his belt and not sell it.

Knowing Hearn, I can see it now.. Bramall Lane PPV!! :yay:

A few years ago, Brook would have been in the' Who needs them' club..

now, there's a queue of boxers thinking it's an easy fight and easy money,

Kell would beat him....... coming in at 150lbs in his last fight I think showed he should forget 147lbs. His fight against Rabichenko showed how strong he is at the higher weight...... plus he's been training himself.

If he opts to train himself again, he loses.

Kell has rebounded from stinkers before though.
In what way? He has only one good win in his whole career, and even that is a heavily disputed win.

Was going to say the same thing myself,i used to like Brook but have lost interest now.Fair play he stepped up twice recently but got hammered in both, then we have Porter, which like you say was disputable.

I'd love nothing more than for Brook to accept a world title fight with Harrison and Crawford then to patch Khan off even if it meant him choosing Collazo

Khan's a piss taking pudendum when it comes to Brook, this fight should've been made years ago

I've almost completely lost interest in Brook vs Khan.

They aren't even in the same weight division anymore.

I would much rather see Brook have a go at light middleweight and Khan try his hand against the big names at Welter.

Exactly,Bomber Graham was in the 'who needs him club',difficult to hit and made you look bad, whereas Brook looked very hittable last time out and very beatable,at his age with the lack of activity, training himself etc i can't see a bright future to be honest.

Best fight out there for Brook. Making 147 to fight Khan is going to be too much plus then you got all rehydration limits being imposed.
Doesn't really have too much options.

In that he edged out Carson Jones by the width of a cigarette paper, then dispatched him without fuss in the rematch. He blamed weight making then and his weight was bizarre for this latest crap performance.
Could well be more susceptible to weight issues than most and he’s back to something like his best next time.

I kinda agree - I don’t think he’s got that much left. Just saying that he was a career lightest weight and that’s odd - could easily have affected his performance.

Brook weighed 150 pounds didn't he ? that's not his career lightest.

No - You’re quite right.
His lightest since he moved up - stilll odd - reminded me of DLH when he was a punchbag for the PacMan
