Matt Hughes was a turd. I never got tired of seeing him get pummeled.
He really was. To know what sort of person he was without reading his (terrible) autobiography, consider that he believes god made him have that accident because of what a pudendum he was previously.
Jones might be the greatest eff up we’ve seen in MMA and is probably a sociopath but Hughes bragged about torturing animals and laughing at their squeals. So eff him. pudendum.
Lesnar is the same. He shoots groundhogs with an automatic rifle for fun. I get immense satisfaction when I see someone beat the shit out of him. Anyone that kills animals for personal pleasure deserves any bad things that come their way imo.
I am a carnivore who enjoys hunting, killing, and eating animals. I also don’t mind managing the ground hog population with target practice.
Thank you for your good wishes!
Enjoy your next steak, guiltlessly. Maybe it came from my little ranch, where we slaughter and butcher onsite.

He was good for that time but rhese days he wouldnt last 5 mins with some of the killers in the division
Uh, no. Hughes beat a wide array of styles. Dude would be at the top of any era. Severely underrated fighter.
Not so sure about that. His wresting was good but not elite, his ground game was pretty damn good though. His striking was pretty terrible so I’m not sure who of the elite in the WW division he beats at his best.
For instance pre-prime Silva at WW had better wins against both Newton and sakurai. He was dominant in the UFC at a time when a huge amount of the best talent wasn’t in the UFC.
Hughes was basically an early Khabib who beat better fighters than the insanely overhyped Mcgregor. There is always a place at the top for that kind of fighter.

Other than young a GSP and the outsized Penn who did Hughes beat?
Everyone on here knows I'm the furthest thing from a McGregor fan but other than Bj and GSP who Hughes lost 2/3 against, McGregor despite the size difference would beat everyone else Hughes beat. And funnily enough lose to most he lost to.
Yeah man, his wrestling was insane. Tito didn't have an easy time with him despite outweighing Hughes by who knows how much. Legendary poo.
I’ve always though Tito was insanely overrated though.
Kind of missing the point there but I don't really care to argue.
Not really, my point was that Ortiz's grappling was insanely overrated. With the weight difference sure it's impressive but it's hardly like he was competing against a larger guy with similar credentials to himself.
I think Hughes is an excellent grappler I just don't think he was good enough that it would've made up for his short comings against the elite guys now at his weight.

There's a huge difference between killing animals for food and doing it for personal pleasure. Those that kill for simply personal pleasure and don't do it for food or to control pestilence are pieces of shit imo. If you fit that description then so be it you are a piece of shit.

So when a lion, tiger, bear(grizzly black or polar),great white or crocodile kills a human why do we hunt it down and kill it? They have the right to survive just like us.

Because you can't reason with a wild animal with a taste for and close proximity to humans.

Ah, other than two of the best in the sport, who did he beat? Yeah, prime example why I won't argue here and exactly why I said I wouldn't.

List of people Penn beat at WW...
Matt Hughes.
Penn was always outsized above LW because he wasn’t even a big LW. He beat nobody of note above the weight but his iron chin meant he took some real beatings at WW and above which IMO harmed his career in the long term. But his record above LW proves that he isn’t a great win above LW.
GSP had been a pro for 2 years, was 23 and had 7 fights. He wasn’t even close to what he would become. In the two rematches he didn’t just beat Hughes, he absolutely destroyed him. You can’t just look at names on a record without context and call them great wins.
It's not fair to dismiss Hughes' accomplishments. At the time, he had wins over solid opponents. Frank Trigg was great for the time. He destroyed Gracie. He had defended against the best of his era had to offer. I'm not taking away the GSP victory just because he only had 7 fights. That was still a quality victory as was his victories over Penn as well. He was an elite fighter for his time.
Can Jones be considered the GOAT when he has been caught twice pissing hot? We don't know how diminished he might have been if he wasn't on peds.
Also, how soon, if at all, do you think he will be caught pissing hot again? Do you expect him to stay clean from here on out? I for one don't. If the testing agencies that test him are on the up and up I expect to hear he got caught yet again.
Is Adesanya going to be a bad match up for Whittaker? He looks like he is a great striker and could give him problems. I expect Whittaker could use his superior wrestling and take it to the mat though.

Megan Anderson is a lot lighter than I thought she would be.
Side note, Zingano’s injuries look to be pretty serious and I hope she makes a full recovery.
Here's something I never really thought of before but in light of Zingano's injury popped into my mind. Does the UFC measure a fighters finger and toe nails to make sure they don't exceed a regulation length?

Commission should be checking that.. but shit happens I guess.

At the end of the day though it’s two people fighting. You can’t always stop things like this from happening, not to be a dick but I’d prefer to have a fucked up eye than CTE as I’m sure most of us would. So while it may look worse it’s really not even close to the damage that can occur within the rules and a common occurrence.
