Yeah, but Prime Ali of the mid/late sixties would frustrate Tyson to death.

I still have a tough time understanding that fight never happening. Had to be the fault of that dope Rock Newman.

And he fought so often, too. No matter how good you were in those days, cumulative wear and tear could catch out anyone who fought every few weeks, and the chances of an off-day or being under the weather were much higher. 40 undefeated in two years, was it? Crazy.
Patterson v Haye
Langford v Eubank
Locche v Whitaker
Calzaghe v Froch
Pirog v Golovkin
The last two shouldn't be fantasies.
Re: fantasy fights ! what would be yours ?
hatton would walk straight through gatti. He always got far too much credit simply for being in barnstormers. Ricky was genuinely world class in his pomp, too big too strong and too relentless for gatti.
Re: fantasy fights ! what would be yours ?
Disagree. Frazier was just too tough a man for mike who was actually quite fragile in fights he wasn't dominating. It would be a classic case of the bully folding for me. I remember seeing mike shriek like a little girl in one fight when his trainer put a coldswell on him and for some reason it made me think what would Frazier do in that situation? Just feel Frazier would intimidate mike. I say that as a huge tyson fan.

Sure, but that Frazier, damn-he-hit-hard.Shhhh wrote: ↑31 Dec 2018, 22:00Tyson Foremans Frazier maybe even faster ya know it
The Frazier-version that punished Alí, or even a little earlier one, I might guess, would be tough challenge for any HW champion.
I also learned that he has been an Olympic gold... 1964, great era for heavyweights: bronze-medal Ros was one tough motherf*cker, back then: he lost to fair opposition as a pro, specially past his prime, but was KO'd only once in 62 fights held in dark times for boxers.
Beware of former-proficient amateurs...

Froch vs Eubank has always intrigued me. Would be a war.

The difference is froch actively sort out the best in the world and chris (by his own admission) avoided them.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑01 Jan 2019, 16:50I’ve always thought of Froch as a spiritual successor to Eubank

I'm curious as to why most who puts Floyd Mayweather in a dream fight does so at not his optimal weight division?
I would say 130 or 135 was the best version of Floyd

This would be the match up I would love to have seen
Re: fantasy fights ! what would be yours ?
Mayweather was good at 147 too,he finished his career undefeated so whatever weight he fought at he was good.tiny_acres wrote: ↑02 Jan 2019, 02:01 I'm curious as to why most who puts Floyd Mayweather in a dream fight does so at not his optimal weight division?

Id say he beat the better opponent at 147. But mayweather vs naz at 130 would of been good or mayweather vs pacman at 135
Re: fantasy fights ! what would be yours ?
Gene Tunney vs RJJ at LHW
Re: fantasy fights ! what would be yours ?
Toney vs Hagler would be nice, altho I doubt that Toney could ever cope with Hagler's pace (he would have to train harder than he ever did in his life...).
Both Jack Johnson and Liston were tough as nails, but old fighters can get too dirty for my taste, often ending up wrestling too much.
Do you people believe that Tyson would have more chances vs Marciano, or vs Frazier..?
Frazier was bigger than Marciano, but Rocky had a taste for fitness I barely have seen in a champion...
Re: fantasy fights ! what would be yours ?
I think tyson would of beaten both with his speed and power, neither would of seen speed like his for a big man, marciano was tough but was only 13st in weight so tyson would of had 2st on him plus speed and accuracy, frazier would of caused tyson more problems i think. Its all opinion based and as we know opinions are like a holes everyone has one lolJacopodb wrote: ↑02 Jan 2019, 11:13Toney vs Hagler would be nice, altho I doubt that Toney could ever cope with Hagler's pace (he would have to train harder than he ever did in his life...).

Re: fantasy fights ! what would be yours ?
Frazier had the strength to endure the thrilla in Manila so I would dispute that tbh. Mike was mentally weak and usually became a live quitter when things got hot. I remember him being frustrated vs guys like bonecrusher smith who would smother him, he was amazing at working his was inside but would often do little in a clinch/inside kind of situation. I would fancy Frazier to sicken him.Shhhh wrote: ↑01 Jan 2019, 20:26I dont all agree a wise boxing guy once told me Tyson was a bully, but a very good one and Frazier just dont have the strength to stand up to mikeJacopodb wrote: ↑01 Jan 2019, 09:56Very good point.Steveh583 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2019, 08:16
