The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
I love boxing. I love it for all the reasons why you do. I'm very much into the techniques and strategies and NUANCES behind the fights and of the fighters themselves. To that point, I'm sharing this video that examines the 'little' things/tactics that Foreman used in his historic and devastating KO of a favored champion, Joe Frazier. George wasn't only a puncher, but learned what to use to maximize his natural gifts. Hope you appreciate this!
Re: The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
I saw this. I find this as a proof, that Foreman was a kinda Frazier antidote. Just an all wrong type of a matchup for Smokin' Joe.
Re: The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
...and now why it didn't work against Ali. "styles make fights."
Re: The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
Still feel that a prime Joe hands George his 1st L. But he devastated Joe that night.

Foreman and Liston are all wrong for Frazier. Frazier losses 9 out of 10 times

Guys, FOTC Frazier Would take Foreman late. And Liston too.
Re: The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
If Joe could get 1973 Foreman past the 5th, George would be in a lot of trouble. As would Sonny. Thet wouldn't be able to handle his rhythm.

Boxbuzz posted this a while back. It is interesting. It does show that Foreman was more than just a big puncher. Also showed how close things can be; Frazier just missed with some major shots a couple of times.

I think that Smokin'Joe was already in the process to be taken that night. Any credible heavyweight would have beaten him in Jamaica. That's not the Joe Frazier of FOTC with Muhammad Ali. Ali would have beaten him also in Jamaica.

Re: The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
in the Foreman vrs Frazier fights it was a classic case of
"When an Irrestible Force meets another irristable Force
( with the bigger and stronger irristable force winning)
in the Foreman vrs Ali scenario was more like "Be water my friend".
anyway we don't know how an Ali-Foreman re-match would have happened
because it never did.maybe Foreman would have changed his fighting tatics i'm sure.
and maybe Foreman would have become "like water" too but Ali may not have been able to manuever around the ring
like he had done in Zaire.(especially leaning back against the ropes that took a lot of the impact power away from Foreman

When asked what his mistake was in the Foreman fight, Frazier responded by saying, "Signing the contract."Caractacus wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 16:28 in the Foreman vrs Frazier fights it was a classic case of

Frazier said before the fight he felt unusually tired in Jamacia all the time.
turned out later he was suffering from extreme high blood presurre.

Re: The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
if Foreman was to have had a later re-match with Ali.
I think he should have used some clowning techniques in the ring to irratate Muhammad Ali,
similiar to what he done in the ring against some of the Toronto Five.
( like acting like the "Easter Bunny" with his footwork instead of being so serious
like he was in Zaire which tired him out really early.
He was too tense IMOP.

? it's there in his autobiography SMOKIN JOE .( co-written with Phil Berger).oogiebe wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 16:32Ohhhhhh c'mon there...show us the evidence! I've never heard that in my over 55 years.Caractacus wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 16:31 Frazier said he felt unusually tired in Jamacia all the time.

and along with high blood presurre,Joe Frazier was suffering from water on his elbow and cataracts too.
Re: The Nuances of the Foreman Frazier I fight
I'll read it. Could be sour grapes. Frazier was the favorite in that fight, as it was a pre-cursor to an Ali rematch. I do admit that Frazier wasn't in the best shape for that fight, but I also believe non of that would ever matter. Foreman was just all wrong for Smokin' Joe.Caractacus wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 16:37? it's there in his autobiography SMOKIN JOE .( co-written with Phil Berger).oogiebe wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 16:32Ohhhhhh c'mon there...show us the evidence! Frazier always had an excuse. He lost mostly because Foreman was phenomenal.

He'd have done the same thing to Tyson.
