Yeah but in fairness it was like watching me fight my 5 year old son, they could have let the guy walk in with a claw hammer under no holds barred and he would have still got humiliated.

ya i mean it just seems incredibly dumb on there end
It was, they took it seriously. Thought they would beat Floyd by tricking him into an exhibition match. They got what they deserved.

I think its a bit of a so-what?

I have never been a Mayweather fan tbh but can admire that the guy has a lot of skills, is a heck of a fighter and has nailed pulling in money like no other man in sport. But he is a prick and he loaded all fights in his favour as well as managed to avoid a couple tricky assignments.

BUT that being said. This was never billed as an actual fight, he never pretended it was anything other than what he was and has not asked any of us here to pay for it. It was a three exhibition in which he did not need to train, and picked up almost 10 million. Not much different to all the singers being paid a few million to perform for some rich arab behind closed doors. Only difference was these rich idiots allowed the world to see it. If he can do that, why shouldn't he? As for knocking the kid around, oh well, tough shite.

Boxing is serious business. It's not comparable to singing a song. People get hurt & sometimes killed in the ring. It's not some play-thing for clowns like Floyd. This boutt never should have been licenced. Boxing fans are fed up of Floyd running roughshod over the sport. Especially since the guy doesn't have a single 'great' win.

I don't know, put him in against a fighter of equal size in a proper boxing match I think you'd see a much better showing from him. The show was billed as an exhibition, what Floyd did there was the equivalent of letting a young kid take on a professional footballer and the pro going in and snapping the kids legs.

Has Floyd been in a 50/50 fight, ever? Whenever the division gets tasty, he retires.

Leonard has prime Benitez, Duran, Hearns and Hagler.

Mayweather has prime... er, Maidana?

It was an exhibition, whether it was a fix (some of those kds looked dodgy) is neither here nor there. This was nothing more than Tyson vs Sanders of 10+ years ago...

Floyd always seems to cause controversy....i just love reading and laughing at some of the posts....sure Floyd didn't fight Paul Williams....but seriously tell me another prime fighter he should have fought....also in his prime.

Now Leonard picked to fight Hagler cos he noticed he was passed his prime vs Mugabi. He said that even at the time of his fight.....as for Mayweather well there's.....

Corrales
Castillo
Cotto
Alvarez
Hatton
All ago I d their physical prime if you ask me...or at least closer than Hagler in 1987.

Hearns,Duran and Benitez weren't past their peak though, far from it and Hagler was still a beast when he beat Mugabi and Leonard had had the one fight in five years,so even if Hagler had slipped a bit he was still active compared to Leonard

Yeah SRL was a right pisstaker in that one. A career welterweight who had one fight in five years, in which he was dropped by a guy who was not even fringe level, taking on a champion who was the dominant champion two weights above, who was active, one of the best of all-time at the weight. What a fcking joke.

Ah yeah, Marvin was definitely not at his best, we would all agree there, but it was hardly Enzo tackling Roy Jones Jnr now was it?

Of all the historical examples you could have selected to add weight to your argument, you chose that one?

Yes, Hagler really looked like easy pickings for a retired welterweight with one fight in five years. Squelching the feared Mugabi really made him look vulnerable. I think it's exactly the same as fighting a 40 year old Mosley, a year and half inactive after he bashed one of those bigs guy you didn't fancy fighting.

That list you provide is pretty poor. Canelo weight handicapped. Yes Cotto he squeaked by (and cried after, so relieved was he to win, alarming sight). Pacman had already romped right thru Cotto. Hatton? Ye gads!!

Everything's so retroactive with Floyd. Oh, that scary guy lost a few years later, so Floyd was right not to fight him. Sort of misses the point.

I watched this, and noticed Mayweather was planting his feet to land power shots.

Shame he rarely did that against people his own weight and with a professional boxing background.

I didn't say Leonard "cherry picked" when he fought Hagler...all i said was Leonard famously retired instead of fighting Hagler in his pomp....ive always called it the greatest accomplishment in the sport

However, when the previous poster only mention Marcos Maidana as a prime foe vs Mayweather and then chose to ignore many (although not mine) p4p #1 when he was light middle king is ridiculous.

And makes the statement that mayweather retired each time a division looks interesting....hes 41 ffs. And Leonard didn't!!! This was a man who made retirements an art form....and two words....Don Curry.

That beautifully blurs a situation by stating some facts and skimming over others

Detached retina retirement in 1982.

Retired again in 84 as he performed badly plus was in the midst of drug problems

And he didn't fight Michael Nunn because......and that is exactly the same as asking 41 year old floyd to fight Crawford, Thurman etc.

I just don't get why people continually diss a fighters credentials when it has the likes of Alvarez, De La Hoya, Cotto, Hatton, Corrales, Castillo, Judah, JMM on its resume....no record is perfect...but nobody gets the criticism of Floyd.

Pssst: he retired after knocking out non-welter Ricky Hatton--while Paul Williams, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto all looked very serious indeed!

This argument always amuses me. 'He didn't need to fight his best opponents because he would have beaten them easily anyway!'

So why fight the easy guys if you can beat the most dangerous guys out there?

He didn't outpoint Cotto 'easily' even after Pacman had beaten him half to death, but he would have beaten him easily when he was undefeated? Lol. Thank god Sugar Ray didn't share Floyd's, or your, attitude.

I love how people dismiss fights which did not happen with "So and so would have won easily."

Well thanks for your insight, one assumes the person saying this correctly predicts the result of every single fight which does happen. No? Thought not. So hey, lets actually fight the fcking fights so we get find out for sure

The old Hatton was not a 147 lber...true...but neither was Floyd....everyone thought AT THE TIME that the higher the weight the more it would slow down the faster, weaker, man and that Ricky was the natural bigger man. Just watch the sky ppv and Jim Watts interview

People with no arguments toss out the "hater" term and sheepishly scuttle away from debates.

Now the children have cleared out, can anyone tell me how volume guys like Paul Williams and Tony Margarito could have been easily beaten by Floyd, given the nightmares Castillo and Maidana gave him, both of whom are half the freaking size of the aforementioned ogres?

Regardless of Sky's spin, Roger Mayweather's pre-fight remark that Hatton was 'a jumped up clubfighter' gives a truer indication of how threatening Team Mayweather thought their handpicked opponent was.
