True. Had he won that, he would have been a unified world champion and also The Ring Mag belt was at stake too..

Can't see this not being ppv, the casuals will lap it up. But I won't be paying.

Jr will apply a lot of pressure but degale is far too slick for him even at this stage of his career.

i think degale is a busted flush. i may be wrong as i rate his skills very highly. i think CEJ may outwork him and get to him late on. Degale has quite a few miles on the clock now. been busted up a few times.

Yeah, I don't think DeGale has much left in the tank. Ewbank will dispatch him mid/late rounds. Very sad.

It has been shown that CEJ can only fight come forward fighters. Chunky is fucked but it’s not within the realms of reality that Degale boxes on the back foot. Providing he doesn’t lay on the ropes too long and run out of steam stylistically he should win. But it is a big if as he’s finished I believe. Eubank will win somehow and proclaim himself better than groves and Bjs and has learned so much from the defeats that he is now better than FMJ ..... knob

Honestly, on paper, this is a great fight. Let’s forget their records or whatever. You see James DeGale vs. Chris Eubank Jr. ..

Two big domestic names whether we think or not.

I will go with DeGale on points.

I get that he is on the slide, and that Eubank will press forward and back him up and can make it uncomfortable for DeGale, more so down the stretch, but their is a gulf in skill level here and i think DeGale can potentially put on a clinic in the first part, and do enough to stay ahead on the cards by the final bell.

I would like to see DeGale win this.

I'd like to see DeGale win this too, but I believe that Eubank will win. I have an itch by TKO.

DeGale is very much at the end of his career, the injuries have taken their toll and his inability to sustain a pace for 12 rounds is going to be a factor too.

DeGale was quality and in his pomp he would of likely dealt deal with Eubank at that time. As we saw in the Frampton fight, A hungry fighter coming to win is going to be very tough to beat. Especially when the mind isn't quite on the game. DeGale is talking retirement and not having many fights left (if any) Frampton and Groves both spoke in the same manner.

This talk is never healthy, as is proven time and time again.

Degale uses an amateuresque movement style to befuddle a marching forward in straight lines Eubank. Christopher will have his moments when degale sits on the ropes in the middle rounds, but there's nothing wrong with degales stones. he grits it out and wins on points. Then we get grove vs degale in a rematch that came far too late

Groves didn’t have to fight at a ferocious pace nor do anything revolutionary to beat Eubank. He beat Eubank to the jab very easily and landed one twos at will.

That’s meat and drink to Degale even if the years have taken a toll.

While I expect Degale to tire down the stretch I expect him to have won 7 or 8 rounds by the start or round 11.

Eubank and his team are so up their own arse he won’t have done sod all to adapt after the Groves and Saunders defeats. It will still be more about posting pictures on Instagram rather than going to the well every training session.

I agree. DeGale should have won this, but not today.
Yeah, got F all left in the tank has he, his days bin and gone
It's a shame as he had so much potentially. Look back 2 years and if he stayed on his feet he would've beaten Jack which would've been a huge win
Yeah, he did have a lot of potential, but just really fell off didn't he

Pretty much how I see it, Eubank looks like he puts the work in in the gym but there’s no thought behind what he does just Instagram worthy stuff, he needs to get back to basics and learn how to actually box rather than aimlessly letting his hands go.

I watched the Groves highlights, he land some good ones, had he put more thought behind his punches and not let Groves see them all coming and boxed a little, he could have won.

I kind of agree with this.

Eubank Jr. is a lot busier then DeGale, who regularly takes a quarter of the fight off.

But that doesn't means he's better. I think Groves exposed CEJ as just not being very good. And as you say, his team/dad spends all their time telling him how perfect he is, and just aren't prepared to do anything to improve him as a fighter. The sad thing is, I don't suppose Jr. even notices. Or cares. He's getting paid a lot of money, gets a lot of fame. In that respect, he probably thinks he's winning.

I've always thought that McDonnell over trains Degale and that's why he gasses and spends large parts of every fight on the ropes. Degale has way better fundamentals than Jr but i think he's shipped far too much punishment over his last few fights and that will take a toll in this one.

Chris Eubank Jr. will fight James DeGale on February 23 at the O2 in London.

It will be broadcast on ITV Box Office.

This match-up has been brewing for a long time. After a series of run-ins over the years, from sparring one another in the gym to trading verbal barbs across social media, the two will collide in a super-middleweight contest.

Here’s what people are saying about the possibility of it so far:
#EubankDegale being slaughtered on line. Degale past his best. Eubank back from Groves defeat. Should it be ppv. Most saying no. Not elite level for me, but it just might be a decent scrap. #ITVboxing
— John Rawling (@JohnRawling) December 29, 2018
Great scrap I which Eubank steps up his game I think John
— Glenn McCrory (@Glenn_McCrory) December 29, 2018
It’s as much a PPV as Whyte vs Chisora was last week
— Andy Georgiou (@PugilisticNews) December 29, 2018
Is it PPV? No. Will I go out of my way to watch it? Yes. Competitive fight between 2 decent fighters. Degale wins for me
— Major Charles Christmas (@JoeStephenson96) December 29, 2018
If #PacquiaoBroner is on itv4 then this should be too.
— Big Tasty (@magjtk421) December 29, 2018
I’m with you on that 1
