Jazza Dickens has Boxing License Revoked by BBBoC
Former World title Challenger James ‘Jazza’ Dickens has had his license revoked by the British Boxing Board of Control due to him taking a fight in the Dominican Republic last month.
Dickens was due to fight for the vacant British title earlier in the month against Brad Foster but when nothing materialised, he took the contest against Miguel Encarnacion who he stopped in the first round in Santa Domingo .
Dickens who is now based in Miami said “The [British Boxing Board of Control] have currently [revoked] my British licence because I fought in the Dominican Republic,” he wrote in a post on Instagram, just a few weeks after revealing that he had signed a deal to fight in the US.
“To clarify, I fought in the Dominican Republic because the second mandatory opponent [withdrew] from the title fight after I’d already started training in Miami for it.
“This isn’t a problem for Team Jazza as I’m now moving forward with my new team in the USA and very excited to start the next chapter of my journey.
“I’ll be returning to the UK with a world title.”
Dickens is now managed and trained by Chiro Perez and Dino Spencer and promoted by Paco Damian, says news on his return to the ring will be revealed soon.

To be honest, if you're a domestic level fighter the best place to ply your trade is in the UK. I don't believe Dickens will prosper abroad.

The money is best in the UK

Maybe I missed it, but was a reason given by BBBoC for the revocation?

I saw that, but it didn't make sense to me. That's the only reason? If no reason given publicly by BBBoC, could it be some sort of failed test?

Exactly. What's this about? Why wouldn't he box over there?oogiebe wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 18:13I saw that, but it didn't make sense to me. That's the only reason? If no reason given publicly by BBBoC, could it be some sort of failed test?

I guess he gets punished for stiffing the promoter who had the card and venue all locked up in England.

If you hold a BBBofC boxer's licence, you have to get permission from the Board to box abroad - it's in the regulations and there's an application form for boxing abroad on the Board's website. Sounds like he has failed to do so, so has had licence removed. Doesn't sound like he is particularly bothered about it anyway.

Now it's all coming together. Thanks for the clarification.olij999 wrote: ↑07 Jan 2019, 12:26 If you hold a BBBofC boxer's licence, you have to get permission from the Board to box abroad - it's in the regulations and there's an application form for boxing abroad on the Board's website. Yeah, I don't get it. I think he's been sold the dream. The USA is very competitive. At least back home you've got a home crowd to fall back all.Rezzer1967 wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 17:42 To be honest, if you're a domestic level fighter the best place to ply your trade is in the UK.
