It has had some great holders over the years. Audley obviously being the first name who springs to mind.

Which one? Federation or Foundation? Harrison held the Foundation title, Holyfield had the Federation at the end of his career. James Toney won one of them too in his final fight, I can’t be bothered to check which one.

They serve a purpose, I suppose, but no one should be under any illusions as to their worth...

When (not if) Prince Patel captures the bantamweight version, it’ll become the main belt.

If it's the world boxing federation then Joe Bugner beating Bonecrusher Smith was for their world heavyweight championship,Bugner was 48 at the time and Smith 45,enough said.

Didn't RJJ hold this belt?

I thought BillyTheKid 'fake promoter' put this thread up at first after he asked about the IBO.

Thinking about it, he should bring Prince Patel back to the UK.

The only upside to these lesser trinkets is a few more quid for the fighters, on the downside it must be a right head scratcher for the newcomers to the sport.

The downside is that you get second tier fighters protecting their second tier standings rather than fighting it out for contendership. Dilution is ruining the fight game.

IT's downright tragic. 200 guys chasing 10 rather than 20 guys chasing one.

It’s just evolved into something we traditionalists don’t like but it doesn’t really effect the top tier, boxing has constantly changed since day one and in an ever changing world maybe it has had to just to survive.

Not a bad point. Maybe it (multiple belts) allowed for more exposure, as casuals eat up championship fights. Could be, I won't deny that. But it dilutes the sport with relation to more competitive fights at the top tier, IMHO.
