Prince Patel vs. Ronald Ramos - 13 January 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

‘Britain’s most active boxer’ Prince Patel to face ex-world title challenger

Image

In a clash of southpaws, United Kingdom´s Prince Patel will square off with Ronald Ramos from Colombia this month.

They will battle it out for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Bantamweight title on 13 January 2019.

Patel v Ramos is one of the featured bouts of a show in Budapest, Hungary.

26-year-old Patel, 17-0-1 (12), who currently holds the WBO European title, has fought in Hungary nine times previously.

He will be returning to old stomping grounds for what will be the biggest fight of his career to date.

Coming off Budapest-victories over Julias Kisarawe (29-5-1) and John Chuwa (16-1), the brash and colourful Patel will face his most experienced and accomplished foe to date in Ramos.

The Colombian is a former WBO world title-challenger who brings a 41-17-4 (20) record.

Patel has by far been the more active of the two in recent years, amassing no less than eleven bouts in 2018. But Ramos holds a clear advantage in experience.

All this makes it an interesting encounter of a young contender on his way up, against a veteran going for glory before its too late.

The winner will join a list of previous World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Bantamweight Champions that includes the likes of Joseph Agbeko, Steve Molitor, Narongrit Pirang (AKA Fahsan 3K Battery), and Prayat Sawaingam.

I thought i'd give Prince Patel his first official fight thread..

I mean, he is the MOST ACTIVE British boxer today!!

Just checking on his opponent.. His 'world title fight' was in 2010 for the WBO Flyweight title. He was dropped in round 1 and retired on his stool after round 8.

He also fought and lost to McWilliams Arroyo in 2012.

Maybe the most experienced fighter Patel has faced.

Oh yeh, the fight isn't listed on BoxRec.. So expect Patel to be on the the 'Records & Queries' section soon after the fight. :TU:

Patel is moving forward, off his own back, I bet many fighters would like their promoters to do the same job.

We all take the piss out of Patel but you have a point. Patel has moved into IBF world rankings by fighting no ones. If he stays unbeaten by beating these kind of guys he will work his way to a IBF title shot at some point.

And we know the IBF.. they'll order a fight or strip their champion. He's also 5th with the WBO..

There’s a lot to mock about Prince Patel but he is only playing the system and doing it well...

Ronald McDonald would give him a harder fight.

While we mention the IBF and their tendency to enforce mandatories, they also make sure their mandatories have fought final eliminators so Patel would have to beat another ranked opponent to get the shot.

Given what Charlie and Sunny Edwards have done, Patel is pretty laughable but fair play he’s still undefeated.

His whole schtick is nauseating.
This gaming the rankings is p1sh too, but it's hard not to end up begrudgingly admiring Patel.
I hope he makes a few quid while getting splattered.

You gotta give him some credit. He’s making his own career.

Should be a "I don't give a f*ck" option.

I agree, good luck to him, and hes moved into rankings all off his own back etc, but I will never be able to stick this guy personally, and I'll never be able to get behind his fights as it's all farcical and laughable

Prince Patel's purse for this UBO title is 3 pints of beer, 2 Jager's and an unlimited slot on the karaoke machine.
