Would Hatton turn down a crack at De La Hoya in September?

I wonder whether the Hatton camp would even take this fight if offered. Surely the financial rewards would exceed even a Mayweather fight (particularly if it's De La Hoyas last fight).

Pros:

Huge exposure to the American market.
Massive props if he beat DLH (or if he put on an exciting performance in defeat).
Big pay day win or lose.
Chance to beat a legend.

Cons:

Could possibly be at a catchweight if De La Hoya wanted it e.g. 150 lbs.
Risk of humiliation against a bigger, stronger & more skilled fighter.
May not get to fight Mayweather.

Would the Hatton camp accept this fight if offered?

This is a non starter.

Oscar isn't going to drop down too much & Hatton hasn't got the body type to go up in weight too much.

Totally agree. However I would include Mayweather, along side Gatti, as possible 147 opponents.

gatti would be the ideal foe for ricky right now...the one-dimensional performance he turned in saturday shows that he definitely needs more work before giving mayweather a serious challenge!!

as for ricky fighting oscar, i see it as a foolhardy move, unless he wants to cash out as a pro (one big payday by throwong caution to the winds)...delahoya would destroy ricky nearly as bad as he did mayorga!! not saying hatton is as crude as the nicaraguan wildman, but his chin is nowhere near mayorga's & the natural size and power differential would be an insurmountable plus in oscars' favor!!

even if hbo would want oscar or gatti, hatton, his trainer, his dad and promoters (FA and Banner) would not want to ruin his career. he knows he should stay the fornicate away from welter.

Collazo's asking for an immediate rematch. but doesn't he know that's even less likely - not only would hatton not want to fight him again, if hatton wants to keep his belt he has to fight Urkal (not that i think he will keep it)

Im sorry but is dlh been given to much credit after his win against a crude slugger at best, the amount of people jumping on the dlh bandwagon is mad.

Dlh will not fight hatton before pbf as he is interested in money and money only.... therfore he will not jeapordise his big money retirement fight with pbf.

I quite like dlh and he was impressive in his last outing but lets be realistic about how good it was he was a 1/3 favourite with the bookies and he won like a 1/3 favourite against a limited fighter.

I appreciate that. But regardless of what Hatton does he is never going to be favourite going into a fight with Mayweather. The Mayweather fight is the only genuine super-fight out there for Hatton - he's gotta be aiming for that.

i agree!! after the collazo bout, ricky's handlers would be insane to put him in with the bigger, more powerful delahoya...so PBF IS the only legit megafight out there for ricky!!

he showed vs collazo (among other things) that 147 is really too high of a weight for him, but if he does face mayweather, it is almost certain to be at 147...even tho his chances of beating PBF decrease at that weight compared to 140...

I would never have given Hatton a chance of beating De La Hoya anyway, but any talk of him fighting De La Hoya after Saturday nights performance is just ludicrous. De La Hoya would school him and knock him out in 3 or 4 rounds.

agreed!! a fight with oscar could ruin ricky hatton at a very young age!!
