Where is Murat Gassiev?
Where is Murat Gassiev?
Anyone hear any news at all about a planned fight for Murat Gassiev? He's only 25 and I would have expected him to get in the ring soon after his first and only loss to Usyk.

Hopefully hiding in some Russian mountains gaining 30lbs of solid muscle

Im sure i saw an interview with Abel Sanchez saying Gassiev needed a shoulder surgery and will be back next year.

He said he’d likely take the year off. Tbh. He hasn’t been THAT busy. Before his fight with Włod, he hadn’t fought in a year (vs. Leb)..
Then in the space of 9 months he had 3 fights.

Take a year off at 25 (rest of the year I suppose)? The surgery bit sounds more logical. (I hope)Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑17 Dec 2018, 14:57 He said he’d likely take the year off. Tbh. He hasn’t been THAT busy. Before his fight with Włod, he hadn’t fought in a year (vs. Leb)..

Yeh. That’s what I meant, take the remainder of the year to heal and whatever. Not just sit at home.oogiebe wrote: ↑17 Dec 2018, 14:59Take a year off at 25 (rest of the year I suppose)? Here is his recent interview in Russian (use google translate):
https://sport.rambler.ru/boxing/4140305 ... er-v-mire/
Basically, he is healing and started training. Added about 22 pounds which is normal for him.

I was really wondering. Look forward to him at HW!boxing_rocks wrote: ↑17 Dec 2018, 16:43 Here is his recent interview in Russian (use google translate):

Re: Where is Murat Gassiev?
Probably tipping the scales at 240. Being able to eat might be too alluring, but he could be the champ at CW after Usyk's departure, which is worth considering. I'd imagine, though, with that hand speed and power, he'd have some highlight reel KOs at HW against many but the top few. Actually, Gassiev vs Wilder would be very fun. I'd give him a real shot at a KO there, stylewise a better matchup than Joshua or Fury.
Re: Where is Murat Gassiev?
As far as I remember, he had some kind of an unjury after Usyk fight. Probably he's rehabbing now.

The bloke needs to learn some basics to be a contender at HW.
Re: Where is Murat Gassiev?
He'd be deadly (or more so deadly) with a confident jab and some head movement. He's still young, he can make it happen.

He's never gonna face an elite skilled A* boxer like Usyk again, A*Level make fighters look bad.
Gassiev's performance against Dorticos( who is very good))was the most fornicating BEASTLY performance of 2018. He look an animal that night.
He beats all heavyweights bar maybe the top 5 already with the ability he has, he'll definitely be at least a contender.

Dorticos smashed him to bits
Re: Where is Murat Gassiev?
Not the most active fighter as it was, but he's had shoulder issues ain't he
Re: Where is Murat Gassiev?
your getting gassiev mixed up with the much worse kudryashov, dort pretty much just hit gloves vs gassiev and got ktfoTheGingerBomber wrote: ↑08 Jan 2019, 08:37Reetio Vlad, who knew we had a snowflake on the forum?Skalamanga wrote: ↑08 Jan 2019, 01:35you don't know nothing.TheGingerBomber wrote: ↑19 Dec 2018, 00:12 The bloke needs to learn some basics to be a contender at HW.

Dorticos/Gassiev was somewhat close, up until the stoppage.jamamb wrote: ↑08 Jan 2019, 11:25your getting gassiev mixed up with the much worse kudryashovTheGingerBomber wrote: ↑08 Jan 2019, 08:37Reetio Vlad, who knew we had a snowflake on the forum?Skalamanga wrote: ↑08 Jan 2019, 01:35

Re: Where is Murat Gassiev?
gass was comfortably up, certainly never smashed, dort hardly landed clean all fight
Re: Where is Murat Gassiev?
ya somehow the judges only had him up by 3, 3, and 1 even though dort was getting outboxed pretty much every round after the 2nd.....overrated fight imo, dort wasnt really giving that well its just it had a big ending ppl remember, had dort got up it wouldve been 116-109 x2 and 115-110 even with somewhat generous judging
Re: Where is Murat Gassiev?
Not worth a second look for sure. Ending was dramatic.
