Felix Sturm Plans Return, Could Be Facing Arthur Abraham

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Former WBA 160 and 168 lb champ Felix Sturm have been rumored to come back for a long time now but now finally it appears that the comeback is on. Sturm have announced on social media that he is coming back.

Adnan Catic as his real name is, was last seen winning a disputed decision over Fjodor Chudinov in February 2016. Then came allegations of a positive doping test and Sturm complained about various wrongdoings during the test procedure. Furthermore the ex-champ also says he´s proven his innocence and is ready to resume his career.

Sturm turns 40 January 31 and is 40-5-3-1. According to Sarajevo Times fight #50 will be against another former champ in Arthur Abraham - when and where is to be announced..

Still a big fight to German fans I guess. Not really relevant at the World level anymore, but if these two are to continue fighting it makes sense for them to fight each other more than anything else I figure.

I'd favor Abraham, but I wouldn't be surprised at a narrow Sturm win or a draw.

Didn't he flee Germany where police was after him to investigate his doping?

And they’re both the same age too.

Not a bad fight, actually. I'd certainly watch it.

..I thought he had other things to worry about. According to Spiegel Online:

http://www.spiegel.de/sport/sonst/felix ... 39559.html

..in November 2018 Felix Sturm was accused of "self-doping, participation in a competition under self-doping and dangerous bodily injury"

In the case of dangerous bodily injury, Sturm faces imprisonment between six months and ten years. For self-doping, the sentence ranges from fines to three years imprisonment. A decision of the court is expected at the earliest in the course of the coming year...

Sturm is 40 and two plus years out of the ring. Abraham almost 39 and best years FAR behind him. Someone said it right that it would be a big fight in Germany, but is that all it takes for such a comeback? If this is true, someone needs the money. I hope smarter minds prevail. Not a fight I'd look forward to.

Sturm mans up finally, sadly a decade too late.

Fair point. I have no interest in seeing this at this point.
