Should BoxRec be able to rewrite history and delete championship fights from their database?

Missing BoxRec records for UK Pro Boxers, please help - PART 2

Post by pbaboxing »

After identifying manipulation within boxrec record uptake and demanding answers in our previous thread (titled the same with over 1000 views in 7 days, go and take a look), boxrec have 'LOCKED' the thread in an attempt to stifle debate so that no more posts can be made, so we are having to create this, PART 2 of the thread.

We are the BDF, a governing body based in Germany who run events around the world that are all listed on BoxRec, our licensed boxers are all listed on boxrec, some of who are champions of major championship bodies (Alem Begic, IBF European Light-Heavy Champion) who BoxRec rank in their own BoxRec ranking system, yet for some reason (the answer we are looking for from BoxRec), when it comes to our events in the UK, BoxRec ignores them and ONLY list events from BBBofC.

After stating this huge issue and pointing out the fact that in German, we have over 5 governing bodies running fully licensed events along side one another that are all listed on BoxRec (quite rightfully so), BoxRec replied that they have "made a mistake in recognising more than one there." thus, will seek to delete all records from their system.

BoxRec seem to have failed in their claim to be an unbiased record keeping database as they are quite literally rewriting history by scrubbing out thousands of fights from governing bodies that they newly claim to not recognise.
BoxRec have lost sight of the fact that they are a record keeping website with one single duty to document and record professional boxing, nothing more. BoxRec have no say or power what so ever regarding recognition of governing bodies as quite frankly, who are BoxRec to make that decision other than a record database?
BoxRec have no right to get into the politics of boxing when in fact none of the European governing bodies themselves have any statutory rights to exclusivity to operate in a country. Governing bodies within the EU are not like governing bodies within the USA where governing bodies (state commissions) are government appointed.

Our request to BoxRec is to please report professional boxing correctly and factually. The BDF have as much right to run events as any other governing bodies within the EU. The major championship bodies who recognise the BDF (WBA, WBO, IBF etc), are the same championship bodies who boxrec recognise. By selectively listing BDF events, you are manipulating the outlook of professional boxing which should not and can not happen when you represent yourself as an unbiased and independent record keeper.

I think BoxRec should list ALL known and substantiated fights worldwide.

You hit the nail on the head SteveO. :TU:
BoxRec claim to be 'boxing's official record keeper' yet are selective in their listing of records through there own narrative.
BoxRec should act how they claim to be and report professional boxing independently without any biases.

It is a great shame.
BoxRec is a wonderful website but it could be so much better if it listed complete records (wherever possible).
Sadly it seems they have their reasons for not doing so and I don't think the situation is going to change any time soon

"seems they have their reasons" - This is where the issue lays and the biased element enters. BoxRec are supposed to be an unbiased record keeping database for professional boxing, yet they are bringing their own biases in, thus manipulating the narrative.
