Re: Does Archie Moore have the most career knockout wins?
Thread not dead...I've seen Moore given credit for 141 ko's (ESPN). Also, another poster asked what active boxer has the most KO's as of now.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 13:57The thread topic is dead, since I already provided the answer in my previous post: Billy Bird = 138 KO's.
The forum moderators might as well lock the thread and move it to the historical BoxRec board.

You have to go with the consensus opinion, rather than cherry-pick a claim articulated by the minority.oogiebe wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 13:59Thread not dead...I've seen Moore given credit for 141 ko's (ESPN).Enlightened-One wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 13:57The thread topic is dead, since I already provided the answer in my previous post: Billy Bird = 138 KO's.

For instance, Sam Langford technically had 126KO wins, but so many of his bouts weren't recorded that many boxing historians claim that the number is far in excess of 150.
So do we agree on an "official" number that reflects the general opinion or do we supposed the highest number quoted by a website?

Re: Does Archie Moore have the most career knockout wins?
The post has three or four figures for Moore's KO mark. What consensus? What source are you calling official? ESPN is the US's biggest sports network, not just some website. Stop talking out yer arse FFS.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 14:03You have to go with the consensus opinion, rather than cherry-pick a claim articulated by the minority.oogiebe wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 13:59Thread not dead...I've seen Moore given credit for 141 ko's (ESPN).Enlightened-One wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 13:57

Re: Does Archie Moore have the most career knockout wins?
Though some say WIlde has hundreds more than on boxrec, so while they may never be known, he may well have had the most.
Currently sitting at 99

I would believe that many of the old guard had more of a record than what we are aware of today. There seems to be a certain amount of disparity among historic figures, and 'lost' fights.

I'm right though, aren't I? Can anyone beat 61 KO's?

We'll find out. It appears posters are still browsing the record books.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 14:25It’s hard to be humorous via the written word, but if my cheeky comments upset you, then I apologise.oogiebe wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 14:19You, know EO, it's not so much what you say. Re: Does Archie Moore have the most career knockout wins?
If you go search some old newspapers you quickly find how incomplete boxrec still is, I was looking into Paddy Duffy, and found on one card two unrecorded fights involving opponents of Ike Weir. Found a few for Duffy's opponents too.
A lot weren't even recorded at all, and are probably lost forever.

I can easily believe that.BitPlayer wrote: ↑15 Jan 2019, 14:30If you go search some old newspapers you quickly find how incomplete boxrec still is, I was looking into Paddy Duffy, and found on one card two unrecorded fights involving opponents of Ike Weir. Found a few for Duffy's opponents too.

Re: Does Archie Moore have the most career knockout wins?
Off-topic, but rather interesting nonetheless: Suleyman Dag – 63 KO losses (stopped three times during 2018)
Re: Does Archie Moore have the most career knockout wins?
Paddy Gorman is 9-9-1 on boxrec, from newspapers I put his record up to 19-11-2, he's someone who fought several important fighters.
Supposed record of Sam McVea before he fought Jack Fogarty
Los Angeles Herald, Volume XXX, Number 5, 6 October 1902
https://cdnc.ucr.edu/cgi-bin/cdnc?a=d&d ... in-------1
Lee Haley 3 rounds
Tim Jackson 8 rounds
George Jones 2 rounds
Jim Flint 4 rounds
Mike Nolan 16 rounds
George Stewart 9 rounds
Tom Mckee 3 rounds
George Sullivan 7 rounds
Which would put him at 11-0 instead of 6-0 when he first fought Jack Johnson.
