$50?
$75?
Arum must know despite Crawford doing over a million views on HBO and ESPN, it takes a different kind of fighter to sell a PPV.
Are they really doing this as PPV here in the states? Unless they pack the card with one two more interesting bouts, this may do a record low. I’m talking maybe worse than Mosely/Mayorga from a few years ago.
Crawford really needed to answer Spence Jr’s publicity jump with this Mikey Garcia fight. Khan just doesn’t do that. If he knocks Khan out cold, so what. Canelo already beat him to that highlight film. TC needed a Garcia, Porter or heck, even Vargas would be better. This fight stinks. Arum’s killing this kids career with the way he’s protecting him. TC’s good enough to not have to worry about that stuff like with other boxers more manufactured and marketed.
Khan is well known in the States, his name, on paper, will definately generate interest for this fight.
Garcia will be fighting Granados on FOX or FS1, can’t remember which. I don’t think that will take too much focus off of this bout.
Thoughts?
And it should end very similar to Canelo-Khan: Crawford by KO!! If it wasnt for Fraudley Harrison, Khan would be the most disappointing British Olympian as a pro in many years.

Khan wont have many regrets when he retires, just fantastic memories, Olympic silver medal (against an amateur legend), had his last amateur fight on live on primetime telly, won, defended and unified a world title, fought loads of recognisable names, fought in Vegas, Masdison square garden and all the top UK venues, and most importantly because of his fan friendly style he earned well, very well. The lad done well.

I wonder if Egidijus Kavaliauskas wouldn't be a tougher fight for Crawford. Although I don't think low paying tough fights are what Arum is looking for in Crawfords case..

khans had a very solid career, lots of solid results and unified champ, fought very good opposition and had moments, some very fun fights too, dont know why so many act like hes a joke, his career has provided lots of value
Re: Terence Crawford vs. Amir Khan - April 20, 2019
I think this will be a very entertaining fight. Crawford should certainly win but this is the best non-PBC fight he was going to make.

Amir Khan is a former Olympic silver medallist, competed in ten world title fights (spanning four weight classes), and defeated several former world champions, such as: Marco Antonio Barrera; Andriy Kotelnik; Paul Malignaggi; Marcos Maidana; Zab Judah; Julio Diaz; Luis Collazo; Devon Alexander; and Chris Algieri.
His fight against Terence Crawford will be the thirteenth world champion that he’s faced throughout the entirety of his career. This will be the second member of the mythical top-ten pound-for-pound elite that he’s shared the ring with. This will also be his eleventh world title fight.
In an era where politics and promotional/network rivalries lead to fight fans accusing certain fighters of “ducking”, protecting their “zero” or being “greedy”, why does Amir Khan receive so much undeserved hatred? He dares to be great, is willing to face anyone at any weight and doesn’t seem to care too much about losing. Aren’t those good attributes?

"Kell Brook always thought Amir Khan would duck him, claims Eddie Hearn"
Eddie Hearn claims Kell Brook always thought Amir Khan would refuse to fight him. Khan and WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford hold a press conference in London on Tuesday to announce their clash in April. Brook was passed over again by Khan, as his British rival opted to travel to America in a world title bid instead.
Hearn revealed he made multiple big-money offers to Khan, but could not convince the 32-year-old to come to terms with Brook. ‘I maxed out on offers for Amir,’ Hearn told IFL TV. ‘Fans are disappointed. I am not over the moon he took the fight but he’s fighting Terence Crawford who on paper is better than Kell Brook.
‘Kell always thought it wouldn’t happen but I told him it would and he was right. ‘It’s a bit of bad luck. The Crawford fight just popped up.’
"We talked about money in the last conversation. There was more money to fight Kell Brook than there was to fight Terence Crawford. You also can't criticise Amir, because he's fighting pound-for-pound one of the top fighters in world boxing and it's a very tough fight.
"It's a tougher fight than Kell Brook, so you can't accuse him of ducking, but unfortunately if you ask people watching or at home who they would prefer to see him fight, of course the fight is Kell Brook."
Hearn revealed Brook told him from the beginning his bitter rival would never fight him... Hearn said: ‘If Amir wins, then it ain’t dead. If he loses well, it ain’t dead. Whatever happens, unless both have spectacular wins, it’s not big as it is now.’

He can win some rounds against anyone at any level thats how good he is. The problem is that he can get KTFO by a stare down.
He shouldof gone for the Brook fight imo. He could have been part of a big kinda meaningful event in the UK instead he puts himself as cannon fodder one more time. I guess he could still get the Brook fight but Im starting to worry about his health. Getting his chin shattered one more time should be enough to call it a career. I mean its not like he just gets beat he gets put to sleep in a bad way.

Agreed it’s likely to be entertaining while it lasts. Only just as likely it’ll end with a very hard TIMBERRRR
Re: Terence Crawford vs. Amir Khan - April 20, 2019
Too bad Khan's chin is so bad. Imagine him with Provodnikov's chin
. It's going to be a great fight while it lasts, though. Khan's speed will trouble Crawford just like Gamboa and Dulorme's did.

Re: Terence Crawford vs. Amir Khan - April 20, 2019
Amir Khan’s definitely going to be a very awkward opponent for Terence Crawford, whilst it lasts. However, as the Brit begins to tire, he becomes careless and a tad defensively irresponsible.
Amir often becomes too greedy with his combinations. Instead of throwing two-three punch combos and then moving out of punching range, he’ll instead throw a flurry of five-six identical shots, which resulting in him staying inside too long, becoming predictable and vulnerable to counters.
The Brit’s instincts, when troubled by a big punch, is to nearly always to go on the offensive and trade blows with men who hit harder than himself, instead of trying to regroup and stick to his strengths.
And this is when I expect Terence Crawford to start taking over the winning momentum of the fight. The American is going to catch Khan at some point, and this will inevitably mark the beginning of the end for the Brit.
For sure, Amir Khan is going to gain some measure of success during the first few rounds, and he’ll definitely be in much better form than his last outing against Samuel Vargas, but I expect Crawford to gradually work his way into the fight, en route to stopping the Brit sometime between rounds six to nine.
Even though Amir Khan is technically Terence Crawford's “best” opponent to-date, in terms of experience on the world-scene and also accomplishment, ‘Bud’ will inevitably be harshly criticised if he fails to force the stoppage.
Anything worse than a mid-rounds stoppage victory for Terence Crawford fails the test! He’ll be perceived as a hype-job if the 31-year-old fails to prove his pound-for-pound credentials against a past-his-prime opponent like Amir Khan!

It's good business form Khan. He'll get slaughtered by Crawford but he will still get the Brook fight anyway. If he fought Brook first, he'd lose too and be left with nowhere to go.

I beg to disagree about Kell "being played". Brook’s Team knew that Khan was the A-side in their negotiations and was receiving offers from elite-level rival fighters.NoScoutingReports wrote: ↑16 Jan 2019, 08:05Have to agree with this! Kell must have also appreciated beforehand, like most of us that frequents this forum did, that a potential Book-Khan bout doesn’t go away, even if Amir loses to Crawford.
It’s fairly obvious that Khan only really had one decision to make, to go down the route that guarantees two big paydays, as opposed to taking the risky route that ensures he only has one.
Even Eddie Hearn stated yesterday that the Brook fight is still available to Amir should he lose to Crawford.
It’s a no-brainer really!
The problem that Kell Brook has, is that he’s not a big name – his options for a big payday are rather limited… and that’s not Amir Khan’s fault.

"Arum Makes Huge Projection On How Crawford vs Khan PPV Will Do"
Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum has been part of some of the biggest pay per views in history and having built his business Top Rank largely on the pay per view model, it’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about how pay per view works.
In recent times Arum has said that he believes pay per view is not dead contrary to comments from rival promoters Oscar De La Hoya and Eddie Hearn.
In fact, Arum is venturing into pay per view for the first time with his new partners ESPN for the upcoming Terence Crawford vs Amir Khan WBO welterweight title fight on April 20th.
Moreover, he’s made a huge claim about how it will perform.
Arum said: “I think the pay per view numbers, we have a real shot to hit 500,000 or above in the United States and of course there’ll be pay per view numbers in the UK.”
An early admission from Arum there that the fight will be on pay per view in the UK as well as the US.
As for the projection, it’s probably a bold one.
Sure, Amir Khan is a big name.
But if you keep in mind that the recent WBC heavyweight title fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury in LA last month did 300,000 buys (reportedly) in the US, it’s hard to see how Khan vs Crawford is a bigger fight than that.
Terence Crawford's resounding decision win against Viktor Postol to unify the junior welterweight division achieved between 50,000 and 60,000 buys on HBO PPV.

For the record: Eddie Hearn claims that he owns the UK TV rights to televise the Crawford-Khan bout, potentially live on Sky Sports Box Office (but he did say he may consider selling them to another British network). The event is being co-promoted by Matchroom and Top Rank.
For a promoter that constantly claims that “Pay-per-view is dead!”, Hearn sure stages an awful lot of them.

I still don’t get why people were so happy about Boxing moving to streaming and HBO cancelling Boxing from their menu. Now this is what we’re going to see. Mediocre matchups on PPV will become the norm even after paying streaming fees with DAZN and ESPN etc. so far there’s what? 5 PPV fights on schedule so far and we are only halfway through January? PPV plus streaming subscription fees are going to make this the most expensive year to be a Boxing fan by far. I get paid well so I don’t care much about paying for my Boxing entertainment but the whole principle behind it gets me a bit salty. If we already pay streaming fees for what is supposed to be great entertainment, why are they now doubling up on bouts they claimed would be part of the subscription?

I agree the Brook-Khan match up wold always be a thing but Im really worried about Khan's health. Very likely this ends up with him being separated from his senses one more time. How many more concussions can he afford?

All this is going to save me hundreds once got is over and I drop HBO.caldo2025 wrote: ↑16 Jan 2019, 10:09 I still don’t get why people were so happy about Boxing moving to streaming and HBO cancelling Boxing from their menu.
