I won money on Williams/Tyson. Though to be fair I bet after the first round. Douglas/Tyson , Turpin/srr, Laing/Duran and honeyghan/curry would be my top 4 though not being alive and with what Ali went on to accomplish I might not fully understand Liston. Smith/spoon was a form of a dive.

I don't think we really appreciate how surprising an upset was if it was before our time. Robinson-Turpin was probably a bigger deal at the time than we realize.
Braddock-Baer is not on the list, but people were stunned by it.
The one that I think is the most odd is Laing-Duran. Ring called it the upset of the Year, but it has always been under the radar. I didn't even know it happened until several months after it occurred. Never saw it on Super bouts or anything like that. Rarely have I heard anyone talk about. Have never heard anyone talk about Kirkland Laing outside of this fight.
Tyson losing to Williams was surprising, but at the same time not so much. Douglas-Tyson was shocking to everyone. Honyghan-Curry was a major upset, but nothing like Tyson-Douglas.

Re: How do you rank these all time greatest upsets?
As time goes by, Lloyd Honeyghan upset over Donald Curry is one of boxing's greatest upsets. People talk, well, the media talks upsets like Clay vs Liston and Foreman as bigger than what they really were. Curry at the time was considered the best fighter, pound per pound in the world. A true shocking upset in my lifetime.
The other that should stand out as a great, great upset to me was Turpin over Sugar Ray. Robinson at the time was considered the best fighter, pound per pound in the whole entire world with an unbelievable record of 1 loss over 130-something fights.
And Mike Tyson loss to Buster Douglas really gotta be tops. Almost nobody knew who was this guy from Columbus, OH. It was a very shocking upset that I couldn't believe it when I saw it.

1. Cassius Clay vs Sonny Liston (I) (People thought Clay would be literally killed)
2. Buster Douglas vs Mike Tyson (I was elatedly shocked)
3. Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman (I was rooting for Ali and praying he didn't get hurt)
4. Lloyd Honeyghan vs Donald Curry (I though Curry was better than that, I was wrong)
5. Steve Cruz vs Barry McGuigan (Getting penalized for low blows didn't help...I think Cruz was better than I expected)
6. Kirkland Laing vs Roberto Duran (I was more disappointed than surprised)
7. Randy Turpin vs Sugar Ray Robinson (I) (My father used to tell me that Sugar Ray wasn't always well-prepared, like the first Turpin fight)
8. Bonecrusher v Witherspoon (II) (Nothing surprising with two middle of the road HW's)
9. Danny Williams vs Mike Tyson (Tyson was way shot by the time he faced Williams)
