Tyson - Wilder ,, Would ya

Post by coneye »

Forget being a fan , what would you do if you were in a role has Furys manager , you were the one calling the shots , would you rub your hands in glee at rematching Wilder , or be dubious .

Firstly i say they played a blinder , going up against Wilder , it came out of no where , bossted Tyson popularity all over the world , and really through a spanner in the works of the heavyweight division , a master stroke .

But facts are he never won , came so so close to being stopped , most refs around the world would of waived it off . so now he's back up there , what do you do Do you go back and rematch Wilder , or go say 35-65 and fight AJ , . Well myself i don't think i would be in a hurry to rematch Wilder IN AMERICA , and thats where it will have to be , i feel the yanks will never let that title go if they can help it , I would be thinking one knock down and they could stop it , Last time i really think Wilder thought it was xmas and birthday rolled into one , managing to get a name like Fury coming off a couple years away , and all the rest of it , i think they really thought it was going to be easy , a rematch there judges , ref and everything associated will be heavily scrutinized all in Wilders favor ,

Yep i would be reculant to go to the states , and insist a rematch is in the UK , even if it meant fighting at odd times to secure the american ppv .

Or if i could get it , i think i would take 65 35% against AJ in the UK ,, i doubt Fury will get 50-50 against Wilder anyway , i would guess 60-35 against AJ would be similar money , but the pro's are , Aj better boxer than Wilder , but a lot lot slower , Aj's got less stanima than Wilder , and above all AJ has the three belts , I would take the gamble go Aj if we win , demand Wilder comes to the UK to fight the man , or stay in the states fighting in front of 5000 people selling bugger all ppv's

What would you do if you were the manager

I would for sure, even if wilder stops him he's a win or two from Josh anyway. I don't think he got robbed, but he will definitely get make up judging in a rematch in those RDS that have a combined amount of punches you can count on your hands.

I can understand reluctance due to a 12 round fighter not wanting to face another scetchy decision.
Thing is, I recon' Tyson could knock out Wilder. He nearly had him rocked a couple of times, it would only have taken a few more big shots to score a KD.
The other thing is win or lose, I believe Tyson will get a lucrative shot at AJ in two years or less. At 30 years old, it's nothing for Tyson.

I would push for the Wilder rematch in the UK. To his credit, Fury came to DW’s backyard but got a dodgy draw. The rematch in the US will have the same organizers/promoters attached to it, so I would look at fighting in the UK or facing AJ first.

Wilder is an easier fight than Joshua so it would be that route.

He should take the wilder rematch. I see him winning with a lot more in hand if they go again. When they fought the first time it was Tysons first real fight in 3 years.

I can't see a Fury KO tbh. He'll be reluctant not to fight safe. It'll be the first fight, with Fury making sure he's not caught like he was twice before, which would secure a defo win. No way Wilder beats Fury on points without knockdowns

I don't think he hasn't enough to stop Wilder too. Ortiz got close... but he hits an awful lot harder than Fury

Just been watching , IFL , Hearn has stated Wilder or Fury , 60-40 , no more first to sign can have it in April without question , Personaly considering Aj is the A fighter with 4 belts , given the amount it would pull , its a very good and fair offer , Hearn seemed adamant that 60-40 is the tops though , can't say i blame him

They can go off and fight each other , but Tyson will have to go to the states , and still probably get 60-40 against Wilder , interesting , for my money Fury should jump at the chance of the belts and a massive payday against AJ

I'd take 60-40 for the AJ fight if I were Fury. The revenue the fight would generate would be absolutely huge given it'd be at Wembley in front of 90,000 and I reckon would sell around 1.5m PPV buys in the UK alone. Fury would walk away with at least £20m from that if not more.

If I were Tyson I would be tempted to rematch Wilder because there is good reason to believe he can win if he avoids the knockdowns this time, then set up a superbout with Joshua. If I were Hearn I would tempted to go after Wilder also because that fight will be dead if Fury takes his belt. And this way Joshua can get paid substantially for facing both men (if he wins vs Wilder).

Now I have seen what Fury has left. I think Fury would beat Wilder nine times out of ten. The only way Wilder can beat Fury is by a stoppage.

I'm not sure I want to see a trilogy between these two, and that's what will happen if Fury edges him out in a decision over in the US (forget the immediate rematch happening here, it wont)

The other thing I would add is Wilder hasn't long left in this game. Not at elite level. His game is based around being an athlete. The signs where there for all to see in the Fury fight. The athleticism is starting to desert him.

I think what their first fight proved it Fury doesn't win 9/10 as Wilder only needs to land 2 in about 1000000 punches to have a giant impact. Fury could've been knocked out on a different day

It's more 70/30 in Fury's favour. And the man is no athlete, his ring generalship, boxing IQ and excellent judging of range and distance should see him through til he's about 35 no probs

He doesn't have amazing reflexes now, he ain't no Mayweather. His solid defence is more about knowing the distance and predicting what punches are coming. He's almost always moving his head as Wilder begins to throw the shots

One thing about the first Fury/Wilder fight that bodes well for Wilder in a rematch. Wilder found an effective punch late in the fight (a left hook) which would carryover to the rematch. I'm not sure I'd be so certain of a Fury win in a second bout. Here's hoping we find out.

Wilder is the easier fight, Fury has his number and this time he will be fighting fit. It makes for a much bigger Joshua fight.

If you'd said 'more winnable' rather than 'easier' I would agree wholeheartedly, I hate calling any fight easy at that level but I think I know what you mean and what you're trying to say.

Throw people like Usyk, Whyte and Parker into the mix and there should be entertaining big fights for the next few years but it doesn't usually work that way.

I just watched a recent BT interview with Tyson Fury on youtube, he was sat on the beach in Marbella looking lean, fit and very contented. He seems to think that Team AJ don't want the fight so is looking at the Wilder rematch but said he'd fight in April whatever happens.
