Non Active Heavyweights...
With all the recent activity within the heavyweight division, I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of activity among some fringe contenders and prospects, such as...
Agit Kabayel:_____ Last fight 4/2018
Ivan Dychko:_____ Last fight 7/2018
Andy Ruiz Jr:_____ Last fight 7/2018 (hasn't missed a meal though)
Tony Yoka:_____ Last Fight 6/2018 (back from suspension...no fight scheduled or even rumored)
Izuagbe Ugonoh: __Last Fight 5/2018
Jermaine Franklin: _Last Fight 7/2018
Trevor Bryan _____ Last Fight 8/2018
Yet, these guys retain their ranking or have even moved up over the time from their last bout. seems odd to me.

Re: Non Active Heavyweights...
Boxing inactivity, particularly HW inactivity is one of these things in life I hate to coin another thread.
Not sure where the blame lies. Fighters blame the promoters and visa versa.

Re: Non Active Heavyweights...
I call it the "Floyd Mayweather Jr effect". Too many fighters are under the false belief that they are too good to fight actively. They think they are Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Re: Non Active Heavyweights...
I call it "not too smart." Especially the prospects, as they are losing valuable development time. Don't they need income? Sheesh!
Re: Non Active Heavyweights...
Marcus Browne offered the best post fight comments last night.
On fighting undisputed light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozydk trained by Stan Islands own Teddy Atlas : “I want to be in with his (Atlas') fighter that he calls the best fighter in his division.”
Browne was also asked about Dmitry Bivol : “Whoever wants it, they can come get it.”

Re: Non Active Heavyweights...
Ugonoh had to fight 8 december 2018 at Michalczewski's Tiger Promotions event vs undefeated Ali Eren Demirezen for WBO Europe title but due to death of Ugonoh's trainer Andrzej Gmitruk just 2 weeks before this event was cancelled. Ugonoh will be probably back 30 march 2019 vs Siergiej Werwejko (who in his last fight fought Demirezen and lost)oogiebe wrote: ↑20 Jan 2019, 12:54 With all the recent activity within the heavyweight division, I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of activity among some fringe contenders and prospects, such as...

Trevor Bryan is ranked #1 by the WBA so I don't think we will see him in the ring with anyone of note until he gets either Joshua or Charroogiebe wrote: ↑20 Jan 2019, 12:54 With all the recent activity within the heavyweight division, I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of activity among some fringe contenders and prospects, such as...

Bryan is WBA Regular Champion, if I'm not mistaken. I don't really regard Bryon too highly, but how does this inactivity help him prepare for either Joshua or Charr which is like Filet Mignon to Corn Beef Hash.tiny_acres wrote: ↑20 Jan 2019, 13:57Trevor Bryan is ranked #1 by the WBA so I don't think we will see him in the ring with anyone of note until he gets either Joshua or Charroogiebe wrote: ↑20 Jan 2019, 12:54 With all the recent activity within the heavyweight division, I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of activity among some fringe contenders and prospects, such as...

Re: Non Active Heavyweights...
And a not-so-super champion to go along with their super champion.
Re: Non Active Heavyweights...
Every active fighter should have the "Participation Belt." or the "I've been KTFO" belt.

Re: Non Active Heavyweights...
its a sad state if affairs.
Kabayal is a curious thing. He holds the euro title (or somesuch?) and is pretty solid. He easily contained Chisora (like most of the world class operators) but he's very dull to watch.
The inactivity of the heavies makes me weep.
especially guys like german Tom Schwarz who has a couple of fights a year against stiffs or if he's in against someone ok he falls to floor like a wet blanket trying to get his opp disqualified.???
What I don't understand is how fighters like this expect to get a fan base.

They certainly won't get any better, that's for sure. I didn't include Schwarz as I don't think very highly of him.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑20 Jan 2019, 18:01 its a sad state if affairs.
