yeah i thought that the old jezzamundo's method is just obvious after we determined the top 15Onetimeonly wrote: ↑19 Jan 2019, 19:09You are using the previous method. It was always just the fighters that fought and that's a fair way to do it. Rivas to 15, Jennings out.dagilechia wrote: ↑19 Jan 2019, 12:38i have no problem with using the previous method again but i doubt that other posters would like it to be honest

Other than that, Rivas has done nothing else, literally nothing else. His second best win is, what, Hubeaux? Then you have to add in that horrible performance.
It's depth vs. a solitary good win with a hellacious performance. I'd prefer depth here everytime.

Depth? With kownacki?
Re: BoxRec Forum HW TOP 15 Ranking update - Jennings vs Rivas
You obviously have no idea about the landscape of this division, nor the competition Rivas has been fighting. It's so hilarious that one of the most clueless posters comes to get ripped apart again. Go ahead, make an argument so I can laugh. Amuse me.

Jennings OUT, Rivas to #15.
It hasn't even been a month since we created this top 15 - there can't be any justifiable reason to re-rank everyone already. Though, I can see value in scheduling a re-assessment of the whole list for sometime in July or so, and every six months after that.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW TOP 15 Ranking update - Jennings vs Rivas
I like the version where we only rank after the boxer in questions has a fight. I have three reasons for this.
1. I don't wan't the list to constantly chance with the flavor of the month and different people voting basis. It is good thing that the list stays consistent and is not constantly changing for no reason.
2. If we need to compile new top 15 list every time there is a fight the number of votes will start to drop pretty fast. In the old system there never was too many votes. If we make voting more difficult this thing wont last for long.
3. The workload for the person making this list gets way bigger. This is obviously bad for the longevity of this ranking. If there is not much work to do to upkeep this we get to have the ranking longer.
If people wan't to penalize boxers for not being active there is easy solution for it. Always rank the boxers bit higher than you otherwise would when they are up for vote. This way the active boxers will creep upwards. Like they should.

My vote...
Rivas to #11
Jennings to #14
I give Rivas full credit for this win.
Jennings still belongs to top 15. I will still give big credit to anyone who beats him.

this fight wasn't good. Jennings good defence good guard is gone now. of course i can see him still beating the top 10-15 fighters but i can't be generous enough to him to keep him on the list. i'm also not too convinced about Rivas but i hope that he's not going to make step down, i hope to see him vs a decent opponent next time, maybe Michael Hunter? that would be fine

we have 10 votes now, at this moment Rivas would be ranked between Chisora and Kownacki and Jennings would be removed from the list

Nobody that disagrees with you has any idea about anything. Kownacki is garbage.

Oh, and I have no problem working like a normal rankings body i.e. the initial list is established and in the list updated according to results.
One thing though that needs to be mentioned is that two unranked fighters can fight each other and get into the rankings. Let's say Mr X fights Jennings (now probably unranked) and absolutely smokes him. KO2 after a vicious five minute beating and Mr X looks like he real deal. Mr X can break into the rankings.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW TOP 15 Ranking update - Jennings vs Rivas
so i have one idea - i will make once per month or two (depending of how much of fights worth of voting will happen in that period of time) a separate voting for meaningful fights between unranked fighters, what do you think guys?
Re: BoxRec Forum HW TOP 15 Ranking update - Jennings vs Rivas
Sounds good, but we should probably have some parameters around it, like what BoxRec ranking is the cutoff for inclusion.dagilechia wrote: ↑21 Jan 2019, 14:08 so i have one idea - i will make once per month or two (depending of how much of fights worth of voting will happen in that period of time) a separate voting for meaningful fights between unranked fighters, what do you think guys?

I think this part of it can be pretty informal. If anyone feels strongly enough about an up and coming fighter then they can PM dagilechia (or whoever is running it) and ask for a poll. I certainly wouldn't want to be considering anyone out of the boxrec top 40 though (post fight). At the time of posting that means I'm not entering a discussion on the basis of Dimentrenko, Marius or Marius Wach fighting some stiff.oogiebe wrote: ↑21 Jan 2019, 14:12Sounds good, but we should probably have some parameters around it, like what BoxRec ranking is the cutoff for inclusion.dagilechia wrote: ↑21 Jan 2019, 14:08 so i have one idea - i will make once per month or two (depending of how much of fights worth of voting will happen in that period of time) a separate voting for meaningful fights between unranked fighters, what do you think guys?

i will include those who were voted in the original voting but didn't made it to the top 15 (Hunter, Hammer, Joyce, Hughie, Huck, Takam, Ruiz, Kuzmin) + the PMsconan_the_cribber wrote: ↑21 Jan 2019, 14:34I think this part of it can be pretty informal.
