How cool is that? I post that it's a bit soon to face the likes of (Washington or) Joey Dawejko but that he should fight Avery Gibson next, and what should happen but Joey Dawejko himself comes on here posting "Avery Gibson".candyslim wrote: ↑04 Jan 2019, 19:56I'm not suggesting he should be facing a Gerald Washington or even a Joey Dawejko but surely a gradual improvement in opposition quality each time out is better than fighting a succession of Turnbows which will teach him nothing but complacency.SportsRatings wrote: ↑04 Jan 2019, 14:58
Love the impatience here on Boxrec. The guy's 24 and had 8 fights (7 actual fights). Compared to most boxers he's had a pretty tough slate for just 8 fights. And he's been plenty active, 8 fights in 1.5 years is not bad. Should spend 2019 doing exactly the same, no need for him to step up the competition yet and get ahead of himself.
And I for one hope he doesn't hit 255. He's in great shape now, almost a novelty in the HW division. 235 suits him very well, and he's kept at that weight consistently.
My ideal nexr opponent could be Avery Gibson then maybe Alex Flores Jonathan Rice, Jeremiah Karpency, Chazz Witherspoon ... boxers well within his capabilities but not so advanced that he's then looking at gatekeepers as a next step up.
That has tickled me pink. Only Joey are you saying it will be Gibson next up for Ajagba or are you just putting forward your opinion of who he should fight? Box-Rec isn't showing a scheduled opponent for him yet.

I think if they keep building him the right way, that they can line him up for a title eventually. But who knows. I see a lot of flaws, but he is still young and only 8 fights.oogiebe wrote: ↑20 Jan 2019, 13:09What do you think of Efe's potential? And I’d love to fight Miller again!! Maybe on a full training camp, and him actually wanting to fight me. Lol

I mean he’s not fighting the best guys. His power could be legit. He needs to face a guy that will give him rounds first, before we know for sure. He stopped Rodney Hernandez, who is tough as nails! So that’s not a bad result. But I’m pretty sure Rodney took that on very short notice.oogiebe wrote: ↑21 Jan 2019, 16:08You think his power is legit?JOEY DAWEJKO wrote: ↑21 Jan 2019, 16:07I think if they keep building him the right way, that they can line him up for a title eventually. Haha thank you my man! As for me, I’m still rehabbing an injury sustained in my fight vs fedesov. But, I’m going to start training again soon. Hopefully something comes up in the mean time that I can look forward to!oogiebe wrote: ↑21 Jan 2019, 16:12Thanks Joey. What about you? When can we expect to see you in the ring again? Thanks Joey. I've not seen you fight other than on screen but I follow your career because I have a lot of affection and respect for heavyweights who'll take on anyone. I'm not suggesting he should be facing a Gerald Washington or even a Joey Dawejko but surely a gradual improvement in opposition quality each time out is better than fighting a succession of Turnbows which will teach him nothing but complacency.

A powerful southpaw who's been in the ring with decent competition. Best days behind him but I'm surprised, as it seems more of a few steps than a step up, facing "Lavern." LMAO!
Re: Efe Ajagba's big RIGHT bomb
So now Mansour has established himself as a gatekeeper and a meat for young lions. Ajagba will probably win pretty handily.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑24 Jan 2019, 15:54 heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba will fight Amir Mansour on the undercard of Porter-Ugas
Efe Ajagba returns on Wilder vs Breazeale Undercard
Top HW prospect, Efe Ajagba, will return to action on May 18 as part of the undercard of Wilder vs Breazeale.
In his last fight, Ajagba took apart Amir Mansaur, a fight which was watched by 1.28 Million viewers according to Boxing Scene.
No opponent has been named, although word is that it would be a good step up fight for Ajagba, who has been plowing through lower level opponents including the aforementioned Amir Mansaur and the very tough Rodney Hernandez. One fighter mentioned is Kevin Johnson who fights tonight vs Nathan Gorman.
Ajagba is a good year away from making noise at the top of the division, but who knows, his path might turn out to be faster.
Ajagba, along with Arslanbek Makhmudov has me excited about the future of the HW division.

Arslanbek Makhmudov need doctor check up with his twister moving neck .. looks ridiculous could be something wrong and doctors can find out only. His managers don't care and use him for few years more.oogiebe wrote: ↑23 Mar 2019, 12:04 Top HW prospect, Efe Ajagba, will return to action on May 18 as part of the undercard of Wilder vs Breazeale.

That is just a little over 2 months from the Mansour blowout. Ajagba has been one of the busier HW prospects to come out of the 2016 Olympics. He has had only one layoff between fights of over 3 months since turning pro.
Compared to other HWs from the Rio Olympics Efe has been very busy. Hrgovic has been off since early December and doesnt have any fights scheduled yet, so he could be off 5+ months before his next bout. Dychko has been off for over 8 months and has nothing scheduled. Rio gold medalist Tony Yoka must still be on suspension because he hasnt fought for 9 months. The only Rio HW that's been as active as Ajagba is Joe Joyce but he is almost 9 years older than Efe at age 33, so he needs to stay busier than Ajagba!!
