Let's hope the opponent is someone who is likely to stick around for a few rounds, and I don't mean someone like a Jamaal Woods.

Alex Krassyuk is technically right, but let's not pretend that British mainstream casuals didn't purchase this PPV to watch their fellow countryman (and long-time PPV star) engage in the final bout of his career.
As great a fighter that Oleksandr Usyk is, he's not a big name on British shores. I don't think he's even fluent in English yet. So mainstream casuals in the UK won't even know who he is. Hopefully this'll change eventually.

Did the competing Frampton/Warrington fight have an effect on the Chisora-Whyte buy rate?
Re: Oleksandr Usyk To Return in Mid-May In U.S. As A Heavyweight
Hell yeah. I'm sure, Usyk's HW campaign will be interesting. Probably he'll face some fringe competitor first, which is a logical step.

It obviously did.SenorPipino wrote: ↑24 Jan 2019, 10:54 Did the competing Frampton/Warrington fight have an effect on the Chisora-Whyte buy rate?
I doubt BT got more buys than this though. That will teach Hearn.

I suspect that Eddie Hearn realised that the PPV sales for the Whyte-Chisora rematch would have been cannibalised by Warrington-Frampton event.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑24 Jan 2019, 12:40It obviously did.SenorPipino wrote: ↑24 Jan 2019, 10:54 Did the competing Frampton/Warrington fight have an effect on the Chisora-Whyte buy rate?

I think that this was more about a battle of the promoters and that Matchroom intentionally tried to sabotage the rival Queensberry event, since Eddie Hearn possesses a massive war chest funded by both Sky and also DAZN.
The first Whyte-Chisora bout, which was on the undercard of the Joshua-Molina IBF world title fight, only managed to gain 450K buys, so their rematch didn't do so bad, considering the circumstances.

I'm really looking forward to Usyk going up to HW.
It would be nice to see him having three fights this year and trying to bag a title shot in early 2020, because whatever be does, he's going to have to wait for the big 3, Fury, Joshua and Wilder to sort themselves out this year regardless.

It should give us big four rather than big three.

I keep hearing/reading Povetkin.Syntax Error wrote: ↑24 Jan 2019, 13:47It's intriguing.
I'd like him to fight Parker and Brezeale: Two recognisable names, that would be good tests in different ways, but both beatable.
If he could beat those type of guys, he'd be ready for the big 3.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk To Return in Mid-May In U.S. As A Heavyweight
pov would be much better then id expected

He's eyeing Ortiz and Povetkin according to the article below.
I'd like to see Povetkin.

Should be a decent enough opponent. Don't think Usyk is much inclined for record padding soft touches.

Parker is possible. I doubt he dips as low as breazeale. My guess is povetkin.Syntax Error wrote: ↑24 Jan 2019, 13:47It's intriguing.

Nah on Parker. He's making a comeback of sorts and is only 26, so he has time and doesn't need a match against Usyk. Povetkin is the guy. He has something to prove, and beating Usyk would be what a statement, although I can't see Pov winning this one. He's not an exceptionally large HW and I can't see him giving Usyk serious issues.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑24 Jan 2019, 14:24Parker is possible. I doubt he dips as low as breazeale. He needs to be looking at those sorts of guys.
He's coming up 32, so he's not got time for messing about.

I think Usyk should go tall. Povetkin is good, no question, but Usk will have to get used to fighters much bigger than him. Breazeale would be a good start. Or the big black polish lad.
