He's a warrior and should be able to handle the long road to recovery, but might take some time!!

Definitely!

He's doing better than Abdusalamov was at this stage. I never cared for Stevenson in the ring. But, I sure as shit am rooting for him here. I really hope he makes as full a recovery as he can.

It's an optimistic and upbeat message, but the reality is quite different. If you suffer brain damage where you lose the ability to walk and talk, then there is no road back to a normal life. Look at stroke victims (brain losing blood for a few seconds), they are damaged for life. Having a brain injury is worse that having a spinal injury, at least in some cases, you can recover from that.

Which is why I wish there was a fund that every promoter has to pay in to. Big and small. And this fund covers boxers who take the risks for our enjoyment and end up with permanent disabilities. Because although one may hope that Stevenson has saved enough from his wins, there are a lot of other boxers out there taking the same risks who have not won a world title.

I hope however, he recovers as good as he can.

Until we get some sort of centralization, nothing like that or ranking issues, etc. will be resolved. Unfortunately.

Yep, dog eat dog this boxing game and those that suffer are the boxers, no solidarity and every man for himself, as much as I love it it’s got a very ugly side to it

I lost hope watching Wlad Klit watching his own fighter on his own promotion fighting Mike Perez, then siting back and doing fcuk all to help when that fighter (can’t spell name) ended up a cabbage with no money and a young family with mounting medical bills and no hope, made me feel sick

It's out of hand. The top guys are all most people see hear/read about, and the guys who grind it out with little pay have no safety net. And if not for them, we wouldn't even have a sport. It's tragic really. Wlad lost all my respect when Abdusalamov got hurt. I really expected him to rescue that family.

Me too mate, broke me heart, suppose it’s best not to expect too much from this sport sometimes

Mago won a huge settlement with the state of New York, but he's still in a sad state. But at least his family is taken care of. It was $22 million. Something needs to be done. The top guys in the sport are the only ones who have the power to make it happen and they are invariably too selfish.

Didn’t know that, thanks for the info, shame it didn’t come from within the game though, looking after your own and all that

Walk with a limp maybe. Hardly anyone who has a significant stroke completely heals.
