Too much reach and height and power. I don't see it. He'll run into a bomb and be gone.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑26 Jan 2019, 23:18Wilder's big punches don't come that often and then I think they only come from long range. I think that Baby Face could swarm him just like Washington. Szpilka was beating him until he got caught in round 9.

I backed Thurman inside 8!
I know nothing.

Yep. His handlers know how vulnerable he has always been and they have protected him all along the line by hook or by crook.

Yeah but I thought this would be over by the eighth, what do I know?Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑26 Jan 2019, 23:21

What do u mean? It was over by the eighth. Long before the eighth actually. I thought it was going to be over in the first when I saw the ref approach Washington after round one and he looked like he was going to quit...but then they switched to a commercial, and then the fight continued.
Washington didn't look good after the fight. I hope he's OK. He seems like a good fellow.

Kownacki was even more convincing, than many had expected. He just crushed Washington. That win was more impressive, than Wilder's and Miller's ones. Maybe probably for Kownacki's turn to take on Washington we've seen enough Washington's chinny moments, so Adam just came there to KO a chinny guy without scouting.

Great win for Kownacki. I thought Adam would win but by decision. Put him in with Baby Miller !

It'd be like two freight trains colliding. You're right. We'll never see it unless there is a falling out or one gets a belt, neither of which will probably happen.

I didn't realize their connection. Ok, hope they both fight others in the top 10-15 ASAP.

i agree. that's why i think that Kownacki and especially Miller have big chances vs Wilder but little or no chances vs Joshua and especially Fury. Styles make fights.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑26 Jan 2019, 23:18Wilder's big punches don't come that often and then I think they only come from long range. Neither move their heads. Wilder would splatter Kownacki. Miller is still an unknown blob.dagilechia wrote: ↑27 Jan 2019, 13:21i agree. that's why i think that Kownacki and especially Miller have big chances vs Wilder but little or no chances vs Joshua and especially Fury. Miller is an unknown blob but he has some power, his skills are not that bad, it is said that his chin is decent and he outweights Wilder by almost 100lbsoogiebe wrote: ↑27 Jan 2019, 13:26Neither move their heads. LOL! You're not wrong. He's got no defense and hasn't had a challenging fight except his draw with Dowejko. Just watched the fight on YouTube this morning (U.K.), and I have to say it played out as expected. Washington has now lost to one A and two B level fighters, so best case scenario he's a gatekeeper/domestic level fighter. Whether he has a jab or not, if you're fighting a come forward fighter, you have to move your feet. He was lured so easily into the Kownacki trap.
As far as Kownacki goes, Washington was the perfect fighter for him. Lack of heart, and lack of adaptability in the ring. All Kownacki had to do was load up on him and he'd fold quickly. Fair to say that the majority of the boxing community called it (sorry Oogiebe), so we probably haven't learnt a lot more than we already knew.
That being said, I still don't think that Kownacki should be discounted so readily. The talent is pretty thin at the absolute top level, and someone that's got volume, power, and a chin, he could do alright. I still think he falls short of the likes of Joshua, Fury, Whyte, however from a style perspective could cause Wilder a lot of problems.
Wilder is generally a low volume puncher in the first half of the fight (except perhaps against Stiverne II), and you could see him pushing Wilder back. What Wilder does have is decent athleticism, and the one punch knockout. I would expect it to play out like the Szpilka fight, with Kownacki well ahead coming into the half way point but being caught out by a counter right and never waking up.
As far as next steps go for Kownacki, he's in between a rock and hard place. He may well feel ready for a title shot, and he's well and truly done more to earn a shot than the likes of Martin, Szpilka, Washington, Arreola, Molina, Stiverne (II) and Duhaupas. But truth is, he needs to get to the back of a very long line. Looks as though Wilder will fight Fury next, then you have the likes of a big money fight with Joshua. As far as mandatories go, Breazeale is at the front, closely followed by Ortiz and Whyte, and then Miller.
The WBC might need to think of a way to manage a lot of relevant contenders. That's 2-3 years worth of challengers, and Wilder is already 33 years old. Kownacki would have some work to do to gain mandatory status on any of the other ABC rankings so might needed to widen his scope.

I didn't think you were predicting a Washington win, you were more predicting Washington would test him? I was hoping he would at least test him. We were both badly wrong on that front
