Is the WBO Featherweight title cursed??

Post by Boxingmad »

Just thinking about previous years of the championship and I was reminded of:

a)Colin McMillan dislocating his shoulder and losing the title

b)Reuben Palacio being diagnosed with AIDS

c)Naseem Hamed being sent to jail

d)Scott Harrison checking into the Priory

As the Da Vinci Code is out tomorrow (I've already seen it at a preview screening) and conspiracy theories are doing the rounds, I thought this one might sit along them nicely.

Clutching at straws I know, but I haven't gone into work yet so am sitting at my computer dossing.

Has Tom Hanks ruined the Da Vinci Coe (as I thought he might)?

Remember the British Suoper Feather merry go round of years ago? People thought that title was cursed - no one could defend it successfully!

Malinga beat Benn lost in 1st defence to Nardiello
Nardiello lost first defence to Reid
Reid 3 defences lost to Malinga
Malinga lost 1st defence to Woodhall
Woodhall should have lost 1st defence to Catley, defended twice lost to Beyer
Beyer one defence then KOd by Catley
Catley KOd in 1st defence by Malinga (with dodgy hand wraps)
Malinga lost 1st defence to David Hilton (who gets stripped for being a paedophile)
Vacant title Catley KO'd by Lucas
Lucas 3 defences before losing to Beyer
Beyer 2 defences (one very dodgy one versus Danny Green) then lost to Sanavia
Sanavia loses first defence to Beyer
Beyer makes 5 defences, surviving knock downs and huge cuts to hold on to his title by the skin of his teeth

The British Super-Feather crown used to be like that, I remember it went years going from one man to the next in his first defence.

Creepy thread by Boxingmad but interesting all the same!
