You know, I had a similar feeling for Nathan Cleverly, and Cleverly didn't exactly become the new Calzaghe, but is not even exactly a boxer with a shitty record, also considering that he retired early: Clev could throw accurate body shots, clever lead-rights, showed precociousness... it was clear that he didn't have the style and elegance of Calzaghe, and his defense wasn't exactly impenetrable, but he compensated with a solid chin, as it was obviously clear that he had the makings. Something got lost in the process...

...This Dubois doesn't look like a hypejob, anyway.

No one is saying Dubois is a hype-job. He's just really young and needs further development before we know what kind of talent he really is. Patience.

FW knows how to build a fighter, Ricky Hatton is a perfect example of that.

Personally I think 3 fights last year is piss poor. It would have been 4 had he not got injured late in the year but even then he should be out 6+ times against the opposition he’s been facing.

At the stage of career he's at? Absolutely. the kid needs more development.

I like him too: he's got both the makings and time to improve.

He turned pro at 20, i. e. oldest age to become truly consistent, and timing is everything (Lomachenko, Rigondeaux, GGG... Anyone..?): imagine if Mayweather Jr. had kept sticking stubbornly to Olympic/amateur glory... he would've been more dangerous than great, now, obviously...

Moral of the story: if you're not Teòfilo Stevenson (and therefore dead, subsequently), and you have the means, help yourself and turn pro at 18.
