This shambolic situation is what can happen if nobody is actually in charge.
We're now about to enter the second month of the year and the best fights so far have all been here in the Boxrec forums.

Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
According to reports: Alexander Povetkin received a £6m payday to face Anthony Joshua; Joseph Parker was paid just under £6.5m for the AJ bout; whilst Eddie Hearn’s third and latest offer to Dillian Whyte, which has been rejected, is only £5m.The Asleep Lamps wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 10:39 I read that Whyte has turned down a handful of offers making Miller the frontrunner. Of course the fact that they've sent him several offers means that they may send him an acceptable one yet. It is greater than a zero percent chance.
This seems strange considering Dillian Whyte has headlined three PPV events in the UK. He’s a bigger financial draw than both Povetkin and also Parker.

Well said that manRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 04:23 I always hate all this pre-AJ fight negotiations etc.
Until a fight is announced.
One thing I hate about AJ/Hearn. Calling the shots, % splits. It’s all they ever talk about.
Yes, he may be the A side, who gives a fück. Just give us a fight.
This now happens twice a year (every time AJ fights basically)..
We don’t even get this much drama with Canelo/GBP..
Get the Whyte rematch out the way.. or fight Pulev and get that mando out the way.
Thing with Whyte is, he said he wants to fight AJ, or even see’s himself fighting AJ at least 4 times in his career.
I think after this rematch, we won’t see them fight again.. should be no demand for it as long as AJ wins.
Unless they fight each other again towards the end of their careers.
Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
Usyk needs some heavyweight fights first to grow into the division.
I'd rather see Ortiz.

what's the thing with mentioning Zhilei Zhang? it's not the first time i see him being mentioned in ''AJ vs who'' discussion

That would be an embarrassment.dagilechia wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 19:05 what's the thing with mentioning Zhilei Zhang? it's not the first time i see him being mentioned in ''AJ vs who'' discussion

I'm waiting on team Joshua to announce Fees Oquendo as WBA mandatory.
Let's see them spin this as such a dangerous fight

Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
You'd be surprised I think filling Wembley with whyte and aj being an all English match up with extra added history of beef wouldn't be that difficult... if fought in the UK i personalily believe it would sell better than the other ones listed.. thats why also I've gone for whyte ...Enlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Jan 2019, 06:59 I’d like to see AJ engage in a rematch against Dillian Whyte, but I don’t think it’s a big enough event to fill Wembley Stadium, since ‘The Body Snatcher’ has already been KO’d by Joshua. Dillian won’t be cheap either, since he’s headlining his own PPV’s and will be expecting a bigger than normal purse to engage in a world title fight.
The most likely opponent is Miller, since AJ needs exposure to the US market. It’s also a better commercial choice for DAZN. Jarrell is also a cheaper and less risky opponent to face, whilst the Brit waits to face the winner of the Wilder-Fury rematch.
Pulev would be a feasible opponent, as he’s one of AJ’s mandatories and there are no commercial/political barriers preventing this fight being made. I don’t think anyone in the UK knows who the veteran Bulgarian is though.
The other names listed won’t be considered, either due to them being retired (Klitschko), being aligned with the PBC (Ortiz & Kownacki) or being completely anonymous, whilst not having any legitimate world title challenger credentials whatsoever (Charr & Zhang).
So I’d prefer AJ to face Whyte again, but Matchroom are likely to make a business decision by choosing Miller instead.
Usyk shouldn't really be on this list imho as he's needs a few good gate keeping hw fights before stepping up in to AJ plus eddy wouldn't match those pair in at least 3 more fights ... Ortiz would be a pretty good fight but wouldn't attract the attention whyte v aj would recieve and Miller will probably be seen as a warm up for Fury or wilder winner...

Meh, he would beat any HW other than AJ and it won't even be that competitive. I don't need to see him tool some 2nd rate HWs before he fights AJ.clopixolacuphase wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 19:04Usyk needs some heavyweight fights first to grow into the division.

Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
I voted Miller again. If I wanted to see AJ vs Whyte I'd just get ahold a copy of their first fight.
Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
You think Pulev has done 'way beyond enough' to earn a title shot. I'd love you to articulate what exactly.Lackeos wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 01:35 Miller, Whyte, and Pulev have all done way beyond enough to earn title shots, and Kownacki is not far behind either. Since Pulev is a legitimately good boxer, and since his prime will probably end soon, I'd like him to get his title shot before his scalp is no longer with anything. Luis Ortiz has not earned a repeat title shot, but he would obviously be a formidable challenger, and doesn't have much time left.
So anyways, I voted for Pulev.
Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
I do get it. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm as equally frustrated that these fights stall, but it's not Hearn's job to make other fighters rich. When fighters reject best ever pay days, who's fault is that? They just want more.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 04:23 I always hate all this pre-AJ fight negotiations etc.

I guess the one that annoys me the most is that Whyte has been made an offer less than his last fight. I suspect that is because if Hearn makes a sensible offer, Whyte will accept and then Wilder and Fury is out of the running.
Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
I generally do not like rematches (mostly because it's not a novel match up and the result is rarely different than the first match up), but on this occasion I have voted for Whyte.
Whyte has done everything asked of him to get a world title shot (it's almost absurd that he's done so much and is still not really mentioned in the same breath of a world title shot - especially when you consider what dross that's been served up to world champions as of late), and is certainly a different fighter than their first match up.
The other options would be relatively fine, but they're all just chasing that payday with AJ. Whyte II for me

Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
I voted for Luis Ortiz. I doubt he'd give Joshua too much trouble but he's not going to be around much longer and he deserves his shot as much as most. Pulev is the IBF mandatory so he will inevitably get his shot (if he wants it), but Joshua has a voluntary to fill so I'd say Ortiz.
I think Miller is a potentially dangerous opponent for AJ but he's done nothing to earn a title fight, and will be seen as a soft option. I'd like to see him fight someone undeniably top 10 before he is given an opportunity to fight for the title.

I'm sure you're right Dan but I have concerns about whether it would even be competitive. I think she's Wlad's age or even older, definitely past her prime anyway.
Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
I added him as an outside of the box wildcard as people have thought that Hearn might use him to get into the Chinese market or for a rematch of the Olympics of some sort. Him, Charr and Kownacki were the wildcards which I didn't foresee getting many votes.dagilechia wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 19:05 what's the thing with mentioning Zhilei Zhang? it's not the first time i see him being mentioned in ''AJ vs who'' discussion
Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
Yeah, I'd be surprised if the thought hadn't at least crossed Eddie's mind.
Joshua v Zhang the rematch. I'm getting excited just thinking about it ... not
They fought each other in the Olympics in case anyone is wondering what the hell I'm talking about - rematch.,

Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
I believe that a bout between AJ and Whyte would be a big event, but perhaps not as big as many people believe, for a number of reasons:ajwesty13 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 21:01You'd be surprised I think filling Wembley with whyte and aj being an all English match up with extra added history of beef wouldn't be that difficult... if fought in the UK i personalily believe it would sell better than the other ones listed.. thats why also I've gone for whyte ...Enlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Jan 2019, 06:59 I’d like to see AJ engage in a rematch against Dillian Whyte, but I don’t think it’s a big enough event to fill Wembley Stadium, since ‘The Body Snatcher’ has already been KO’d by Joshua. So I’d prefer AJ to face Whyte again, but Matchroom are likely to make a business decision by choosing Miller instead.
• The ignorant mainstream masses may find it hard to get excited about Joshua facing an opponent he’s already comfortably beaten (they may be blissfully unaware of Whyte’s improvement over the last few years)
• PPV sales may be cannibalised by the Wilder-Fury rematch that may take place two weeks later
• Hearn stated that the two-fight deal that Joshua signed with Wembley Stadium includes an obligation to sell 15,000 coach packages, with the Matchroom boss claiming that these seats won’t sell, because people aren’t willing to travel by that mode of transport
• The weather in April is usually poor around that time of the year
So, the rematch between Joshua and Whyte could do reasonably well, both in terms of gate receipts and also PPV-wise, but the total revenue the event would generate would probably be not much different to AJ’s last two or three outings.
I think that’s part of the reason why Eddie Hearn yesterday appeared to confirm that AJ will either compete in New York in June or the 13th April Wembley date could be pushed back to May or June (I believe the two-fight deal with that venue related to specific dates, meaning that the coach package stipulation may be renegotiated).
Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
Fury , fights for pride , money is irrelevant , unless its against AJ then he wants 50-50 , Wilder fights for a couple of million in front of 10-12000 , unless he fights AJ then he wants 50-50 of a big fight , .
Aj should just give up on them , he carrys the belts just defend against his mandatorys , giving a 30-70 split , what will happen , sooner or later his stock and value will drop and so will his 70% income , then he decides give a bigger split or carry on waiting till Wilder gets beat , and lets have it right as soon has he meets someone he can't ko he will lose , then he's worth bugger all .
There all greedy bastards who sooner rather than later will get beat and there stock will go down ,

Re: Who would you rather see AJ face?
In terms of quality fights, I'd prefer to see AJ face Ortiz. Ortiz isn't getting any younger, and who knows how many chances he'll have down the road for big fights.
But part of me wants to see AJ KO Miller in a few rounds, so he can shut him up and finally take him out of the contender equation. And if it happens in NYC as rumored, I'll try my best to be there. I don't hate Miller or anything, He could still be fun to watch fighting B or C list fighters. I just don't think he's earned a title shot or Joshua payday.

Once it isn't Miller, I'm interested. A heavy bag would have a better chance against AJ than Miller
