Time for AJ to go it alone?
Hatton, Khan, Hamed, Haye all did it.
Whats stopping aj going it alone taking Hearn out the equation and structuring his own path. Hearns built him up and made him well known but now time to carve him out and do it himself? I expect it soon
Whats your thoughts? I see it as the only way to get the fights between fury and wilder agreed. The next 2 fights for Aj are crucial in my opinion to see where this ends up

Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
Well, it appears Hearn will cost AJ a three fight year, as it looks like Wembley will be canceled, leaving time enough for only two fights.ThereByTheGrace wrote: ↑01 Feb 2019, 14:48 Hatton, Khan, Hamed, Haye all did it.

He's on top of the division and is also a top draw, so he's certainly in the position to go it alone. He'd be better off, though with a business manager to guide him and 'actualize' his wants.
Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
Joshua / Hearn had more than enough time to get an opponent sorted for the Wembley date .
Looks like the Miller fight in the US is favourite .
Career in a bit of a stall at the moment and it shouldn't be so .
It will hurt them badly if Fury wins the rematch against Wilder and steals a big share of the limelight .

Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
Ye they thought they were being smart by booking Wembley thinking they were calling Wilders bluff but instead they both have ended up with egg on their face,if i was joshua i would fight Whyte in April then Miller in July in MSG there is plenty of time to promote the US from now till June/July. If i was Joshua id cut Hearn out at the end of this year and go alone.oogiebe wrote: ↑01 Feb 2019, 14:51Well, it appears Hearn will cost AJ a three fight year, as it looks like Wembley will be canceled, leaving time enough for only two fights.ThereByTheGrace wrote: ↑01 Feb 2019, 14:48 Hatton, Khan, Hamed, Haye all did it.

Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
What is the point of this thread when AJ extended his agreement and is contracted until 2021
Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
100%. I think Hearn convinced AJ that he really did rule the division from a matchmaking perspective. With recent events disproving that, if I were AJ, I'd do whatever I could to get away from Hearn. I think his reputation has been tarnished in recent months.thechump wrote: ↑01 Feb 2019, 15:40Ye they thought they were being smart by booking Wembley thinking they were calling Wilders bluff but instead they both have ended up with egg on their face,if i was joshua i would fight Whyte in April then Miller in July in MSG there is plenty of time to promote the US from now till June/July. Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
lol what makes u think aj would be any better on his own, hes a boxer not some excellent business mind
Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
People seriously under estimating the work that goes into putting on, promoting and selling a stadium show....
Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?

Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
I guess it would make sense but if I was a successful fighter I would just want to do the fighting and let someone else promote me, surely there’s some risk of losing focus and being overly distracted in preparations if you promote yourself, for the sake of a bit more money is it worth it?

I’d like to see him go it alone.
Thing is, he doesn’t need to. At no point in history nor in the future will the man who holds 3 of the 4 world titles be on the outside looking in. Especially when he is the bigger star in the division and generates way more than the rest when it comes to dough.
Joshua is the pot at the end of the heavyweight rainbow

Loyalty is a difficult commodity to factor in to the boxing landscape.
Whilst Matchroom have not built the Joshua sales machine out of charity, they have done it and they have played a big part in making Joshua a very popular and wealthy man. Is it right for him to try to cut them out of future promotions? Is there even any point trying to take on the extra effort and distractions of dealing with other managers and promotors for opponents and undercard, tv companies, venues etc etc when it’s realistically making his pay per hour plummet and he’s not struggling for cash now?
I imagine he is content with the ‘co promotion’ thing he already has.
In the past ‘names’ who have set up to promote themselves have generally done so for an end of career few quid after a fallout havent they?

They have done a great job for him, I'd be surprised if he went on his own, enough stress in training for having big fights, let someone else deal with the admin/business side and concentrate on fighting.
Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
Think he'll pack it in at the end of the current deal, nothing more to achieve after he deals with Wilder and Fury next year.

Pack them in or pack the game in?
If he does take care of them next year, the next generation of challengers should just be turning up.
A few of them were ams when he was too so there’s little side stories there. There’s also Usyk too. There’s 3 years, by then you might have Dubois making big noises.

Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
He’s already got him own management company.
I’d be amazed if there isn’t a stipulation in the contract that he can be involved with co promotion at some point.
Broner is with Haymon but co-promotes his fights with his fighters on the bill.
I’d expect AJ to do the same but replace Easter/Warren with Buatsi.

Love your inside track on all matters Joshua.
Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
Pack the game in, don't see him sticking around too long tbh. Usyk fight would be great if he makes the step up up successfully.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2019, 07:09Pack them in or pack the game in?

Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
Khan, Haye, Hatton, Mayweather, Cotto etc.. Were/are self promoted, but (as far as I am aware) have not ran a show themselves, they always co promoted shows.
Pretty sure AJ promotions already co promotes all Joshua fights.

Re: Time for AJ to go it alone?
To be fair, the AJ & Hearn show has been a phenomenal success so far and Hearn has played his part in that. This is the first hiccup in the story, no need for a hasty reaction. Fury's return to the top changed everything and it wasn't exactly predictable.
