Valdez defends his WBO Featherweight title against unbeaten Italian Tommasone on the Alvarez/Kovalev 2 card this weekend, Valdez's first fight since suffering a broken jaw in the points win over Quigg, he probably won that fight more comfortable than I thought he would but he did get hurt in the middle rounds more than he hurt Quigg in the whole fight probably
Had a look through Tommasone's record there, 19-0 only 5 KOs, I noticed he outpointed Scarpa in his 4th fight, its was Scarpa's 2nd,, he's also got a win over a Scottish fighter called Jon Slowey's who's a bit known up here
And as a tribute to the fella Leprachaun who's a bit obsessed about me predicting fight outcomes without seeing a fighter I'm gonna say Valdez in 7

Re: Oscar Valdez vs Carmine Tommasone
Having watched a few rounds of Carmine, I think Valdez does get him going and get him out of there but Valdez is a weird kind of fighter. He will switch off at times and has been clipped and put down because of it. He'll take rounds off and just make a fight seem harder than it has to be. Take the fight to him like Quigg did and he will perform but when he has to make the fight, as he will here because Carmine will fight this fight off the backfoot (I know that because I've watched some footage of him), Valdez just doesn't look right at times. Carmine has trouble throwing punches correctly, looks like he just pushes the punches out. Because of that lack of power in his punches, I think Valdez will eventually get him going. But there is every chance of Valdez just coasting to a decision too.

Re: Oscar Valdez vs Carmine Tommasone
Valdez stops Tommasone in the 7th to retain his title, Tommasone down 4 times en route, wasn't a classic fight, lacked quality I thought, Tommasone tired to give it a go but he couldn't really get through with much, he threw plenty jabs and right hands over the top but they always fell short or Valdez was easily able to block or parry them, Valdez wasn't great early on either, looked a bit rusty but seeing as he has a new team in his corner, it was put down to him being less gung ho and more patient
Tommasone was down twice in the 4th, first time from a nice right hand which Tommasone's balance didn't help and then down again from a left to the body which made Tommasone take a knee for a split second, Valdez seemed to take control from thereafter, Tommasone down from a jab in the 6th similar to the knockdown Cash scored last night against Abolaji
Right at the start of the 7th Valdez put Tommasone down heavily with a lovely right uppercut and the ref waved it off immediately, it was definitely the best KD of the fight for Valdez but seeing as the other KDs weren't that hurtful and he wasn't taking too much of a beating some might argue the ref was a bit quick to wave it off, Tommasone did look ok but truth is he was a mile behind already and Valdez would've got rid of him anyway most probably
Wasn't bowled over by Valdez, defensively he looked better which is a good sign but his team don't want to reign him in too much, he's at his best when he's breaking guys down

Tommasone proposed to his missus then proceeded to tongue the fuuck out of her in a camera close up.
Probably the highlight from him.
