Must've been that DQ win over Fulton... maybe DQs shouldn't be counted for all-time purposes if they have this level of influence..Manrae wrote: ↑07 Feb 2019, 22:04 I have a question

In other cases a DQ is as good as a KO or TKO. When an apparently helpless opponent fouls.
So, I more tend to look at the point, that Texas Tate had a lot of low losses and no other good wins.

Re: Boxrec Ratings - Read first before commenting on the ratings
I found a solution now.
Currently:
Best wins are devaluated by worst losses pairwise - and the best win left will be counted. Best wins and worst losses within the last year.
Improvement:
Best wins and worst losses pairwise - but, best wins within last year - and, worst losses are within last 2 years.
Texas Tate dropps from #64 to #805.
Heavyweight all-timers then look like this:

Re: Boxrec Ratings - Read first before commenting on the ratings
I find the new version more convincing too. Would be interesting to see more statements.
Re: Boxrec Ratings - Read first before commenting on the ratings
I have another question and this be may be a bit much but here it is
From my understanding the 77 rating is the bench mark for a five-star fighter.
77 is roughly the rating for the #100 ranked fighter.
What would be the rating of the #100 fighter in different decades?
To be precise, what was the rating of the #100 ranked fighter January 1st, 1910?
January 1st, 1920?
January 1st, 1930?
...
all the way to January 1st, 2010?

Re: Boxrec Ratings - Read first before commenting on the ratings
HI, all time ratings were changed. I found that Chaozhong Xiong was 9th Minimumweight in January. Now he drops to 37th. And in China all time p4p, Shimin Zou was No.1 and Chaozhong Xiong was No.3. However Xiong is 100% greater than Zou. Could you analyze why Zou has 35 points and Xiong has 33 points? Thank you

- In the old version he got 133 points for his win against Denver Cuello in 2013.
- In the new version he only gets 12 points for this win, because now it is compensated with his low rated loss against Shin Ono in 2012.
Old version:
Best wins are devaluated by worst losses pairwise - and the best win left will be counted. Best wins and worst losses within the last year.
New versiont:
Best wins and worst losses pairwise - but, best wins within last year - and, worst losses are within last 2 years.

Re: Boxrec Ratings - Read first before commenting on the ratings
Are people... mostly feeling able to accept the new historical rankings? The idea that Floyd and Manny are far and away the top 2 P4P fighters of all time, that Juan Manuel Marquez ranks above Rocky Marciano, Canelo ahead of Floyd Patterson, Oscar above Joe Louis, feels to me like the new adjustment just obviously skews against the past.

I think Marquez over Marciano is fine. Canelo over Patterson isn't egregious. Oscar over Louis is outlandish.

This is in the pipeline. Great wins better balanced with bad losses.

Chris John over Archie Moore...
The current formula needs work, but this is a step backwards IMO

Both have too many bad losses devaluating their big wins.Manrae wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 09:52.computerrank wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 05:34 This is in the pipeline. Great wins better balanced with bad losses.
