For the sake of British Boxing...

Post by KO Artist »

Make Hatton v Witter

It will be a travesty if this fight isnt made. If these guys had a year both on the same terrestrial channel they would sell out a football stadium.

It would revitalise British Boxing.

To do it they should both rejoin Sports Network.

Get it on.

Who else on this forum is crying out for this fight?

I think the fight is a possibility and more of a probability as things go on.

Firstly though - when did you fall out with FA? You used to be a big drum banger for them and have not been for some time now.

Secondly - why on earth would both men have to go to SN to make it happen anyway?

I think the reason he's saying they should both rejoin SN for the fight is so that it can be on ITV.

I think it will happen if Witter wins the WBC title but I still haven't heard any news on a date or venue for this.

Ive got no beef with FA. I think they are doing a good job, particularly with Clinton. I just think the American Dream with Hatton at Welterweight is a bad move.

I'd like to see SN do it as it would be on ITV and a great advert for Boxing.

Ah, I get you - the ITV link. Yes, that would be great for the sport.

Would be a good fight but I realy don't think Hatton wants any part of it. Still attached to his 0 and doesn't want to risk it for anyone but floyed.

Was really banging out for this fight but now I think Ricky has bigger fish to fry and fighting Witter at this stage would be a big mistake.

Thing is, when Eubank fought Benn, everyone knew who both guys were, but the average joe (i.e. not a passionate boxing fan) wont know who Witter is. So although from a fans perspective it sounds good, it wont be THAT much of a big fight. Why would Hatton possibly want to fight Witter?

If Witter gets the title I can now see this happening, however, this isn't a massive fight as outside of internet forum nerds, people don't know who witter is.

To be honest I hope this fight doesnt happen now as Witter seems to be sliding and while I'd have no trouble with him beating Hatton a year or so ago, I think it would be a much tougher fight for him now... but then it would be just like team Hatton to finally agree to fight Junior once he hits his mid-30s.... 8)

with hatton seeming to want a return to 140 and junior possibly a champ soon at the same weight, it could happen some time soonish...but junior may be on the slide and ricky may improve at 147 in his next outing.
we can but hope..

There not doing that good with Clinton.

They seem to be leaving him out ever since they got Hatton to milk.

Hatton and Witter is 50/50.
