Joseph Parker vs. Derek Chisora - 1 May 2021
Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
Parker would be completely sapped at CW, IMHO.
Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
I guess, but I don't see it happening. 35 LBS (2.5 Stones) is a lot of weight off a guy who doesn't carry a lot of spare weight.
Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
Precisely. I wrestled and damn if my strength and stamina wasn't sapped to lose just 2-4 lbs to make weight. Dehydrating sucks.
Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
It is wise to stay in the money league no doubt. I was just suggestions that if he really has aspirations of being at the top of his division, then CW really is his very best shot at being undisputed champ. If he took the durability down right now, he would be a force. Of course only now Usyk is not there.
We always speculate that 'big for the division' fighters move up a division.
Depends what he wants from his career. Money @ HW, or go for legacy @ CW.

Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
It certainly wasn't a bad thought. It spurred some pretty good discussions. Another reason for a move down is that Gassiev is also rumored to be moving up as well as Usyk. Leaves a wide open division. If he can do it, great, I just don't see it. Doesn't mean I'm right.SAPFO wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 18:00 It is wise to stay in the money league no doubt. Yes he is 6' 4"SAPFO wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 13:38Some facts for you...leejonesjnr wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 12:00Anyone with a brain in their head is discouraging massive dehydration. The sport is dangerous enough.
JP is 6 4"
He is not ripped at all
There are bigger cruisers than JP
JP has weighed in as low as 219lbs, and still was not ripped.
If he really wanted to get to CW to win some gold, then he could physically do that.
No he isn't super lean or have a body builder physique, however he is also not fat, he is just a large human being.
No there aren't. Taller, yes, bigger, no.
Yes his career low which was 6 years ago was still not far off two stone over the cruiserweight limit.
I dare say he could physically strip the weight, but in doing so he would have zero chance of winning 'CW gold'.

Due to purse bids being ordered for Whyte-Breazeale. Whyte will unlikely fight on April 20.. I do think this bout will still serve as a co-feature to a Whyte PPV. Hearn will want to stack the card.. we also have Browne-Allen which is already confirmed for that date though. Unless Hearn just moves the whole card.

No way Parker makes Cruiser in a healthy and effective way.
He’s a Heavyweight.

"It's our priority option," Parker confirmed to Sunday Herald. "I said to David that I want to lock in something very soon because if I lock it in tomorrow it will give me nine weeks of training. I need a minimum of seven weeks in Vegas and two weeks in the UK so it's very close to happening.
"He's a dangerous fighter. It's a risky fight. He puts on a lot of pressure and throws a lot of punches. With the last fight he had against Dillian Whyte, he was leading the fight before he got knocked out.
"Fury and [WBC champion Deontay] Wilder are busy. Joshua is going to fight Big Baby [Jarrell] Miller. David Price has got a fight. Lucas Browne has got a fight. The only other person at the top is Luis Ortiz but I think he's going to be signed up for a fight soon.
"For me, looking at the top 10 or 15 in the world, Chisora is right up there, the only one that is free and the only one willing to take the fight."

Be interesting to see what Dave C can teach Parker. And if he goes to Vegas with Joe. If he dosent, then 2 weeks won't really help.

If del boy puts out this consistent pressure & work to the body like he did vs. whyte, i can see him chopping down parker, winning on points, maybe even stopping him.
If parker moves well & puts some power & precision in his rather erratic counterpunching of course he should be as well able to outland & hurt the bull like chisora rushing in.
Good 50/50 fight, neither will go down easily. Hope parker comes to fight which would make it a war.
Just so slightly favouring chisora if he can repeat his performance against whyte, without the ending obviously.
But again, it's heavyweight boxing and one punch could mean lights out! within the blink of an eye.

Both are past....
Better for Parker he drop unter 91 kg and go to cruiser

Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
While Chisora is the home fighter, I guess they are both contracted to Hearns and there will be opportunity for the winner.
Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
Parker isn't past it. He's still young. Also, he's too big to get down to cruiser and be effective. I'd like to see Parker get new trainer and use his youth to 'redefine' his fighting style. There's still hope for him.
Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
Young but losing to White he make a gigant step down ...... i have my doubt if he ever came close to the top 5
end i am sure Ajagba and Hrgovic bet both of them... ride now

Re: Joseph Parker vs. Dereck Chisora - 20 April 2019?
Why are people talking about Parker completely draining weight to becoming a decent but not great crusier instead a decent but not great HW? He ain't better than Bredis or Gassiev etc. There's levels to boxing and we've found out Parker's just the way it is. I'd maybe consider moving down if Parker was an amazing boxing who just couldn't cope with the size of HW's but he's not. The size isn't the issue, he's never been pushed over (Whyte tried to bully him but he was still very much in the fight). Strength and size isn't his issue, it's skill and his ability has a ceiling and it's about number 5 HW in the world. No shame in that

Parker is much better than Chisora.
I'd tip him to win on points, but it wouldn't surprise me if he won via TKO.

hard to picture Parker knocking Del out - can see him taking too many punches on the rope and the ref stepping inSyntax Error wrote: ↑15 Mar 2019, 11:03 Parker is much better than Chisora.
