WBC Prez Excited: Special Belt Being Made For Canelo vs. Jacobs
As part of the celebration for the 56th anniversary of the World Boxing Council, the president of the organization, Mauricio Sulaimán, revealed that they are already preparing a special belt for the upcoming middleweight unification clash on May 4 between Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs.
"We are already preparing the belt 'Adolfo Lopez Mateos' for the weekend of Cinco de Mayo with Canelo-Jacobs and it will be spectacular, it will be difficult to overcome the Huichol belt and the Chiapas belt, but we are excited, '' Sulaiman said to ESPN Deportes.
Canelo vs. Jacobs will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

they make one for almost every canelo fight now it seems
The funniest part is Canelo treated them like crap for years. And they just suck up to him.
The WBC must love the abuse
His bouts bring in the some hefty sanctioning fees.
The WBC knows who butters their tortillas.
Obviously. I don't blame them for wanting the fees. I just question the special belts that Canelo has already shown no interest in. It's a waste of money and quite frankly they are all tacky as hell
It’s probably a marketing ploy to garner media headlines, since Canelo & Jacobs would both be paying sanctioning fees to the WBC anyway.
I truly doubt that either fighter would be willing to pay extra for the WBC’s Adolfo Lopez Mateos commemorative belt, since it serves no purpose to them.

We Blow Canelo !!
I agree. Also, I think boxing took a big hit with the judging in his fights with GGG. There is too much corruption in sports. A lot more people know now that the NFL is fixed. The referees in the NFL are like the judges in boxing.
