Re: How many more
The backlash is due to Wilder-Fury being a great fight, Eddie telling everyone it would never happen, Fury’s amazing PR turnaround. People are thinking Hearn has been playing them all along. Barry doesn’t help sat fishing saying he’d have AJ fight bums for the next ten years!
Re: How many more
See I am in the minority regarding Wilder - Fury, good fight yes, great - no sure..... entertaining, but for me I actually thought the two men who "enhanced" themselves after that fight were Fury and Joshua. Wilder was well an truly exposed.... I'd be stunned if Fury allows Wilder to catch him again like that and looked ordinary for about 33 of the 36 minutes.... I really cannot see him bringing any more to the table.mickey1975 wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 06:20 The backlash is due to Wilder-Fury being a great fight, Eddie telling everyone it would never happen, Fury’s amazing PR turnaround. Yes, the Fury PR turnaround is amazing, no doubting that - but let him get his belt back vs Wilder and then see if the fight can be made.
Re: How many more
I agree, despite Fury's huge improvement in conditioning, he wasn't 100%, so I expect him to be better in the rematch.
I can't see Wilder getting close to him.

Re: How many more
Certainly isn't "world level" boxing......"world" boxing yes,in the sense you've got a Englishman vs an American but world level no....you just can't help the state of play in the hw div currently

Re: How many more
I don't believe that BoxRec users are generally seeing things the way that the wider public do.
On here Tyson Fury is now super popular and Joshua is a ducking Hype job.
If Fury v Wilder was in the UK it wouldn't sell out a stadium.
If Joshua v Miller was, it would (well 80k or so).

Re: How many more
A big factor I think is that the Fury / Wilder fight was made pretty quickly and without any drama - as was the rematch.
Whereas, Barry seems unable to make a fight with either - and just seems to put obstacles in the way of a fight happening.
He was on Talksport saying how nobody had offered to fight Joshua in the last few months - that is because both Fury and Wilder were so fed up they were busy arranging to fight each other.
As long as Fury has a date for a fight he will hopefully stay fit and motivated as he has something to work towards. I reckon that Barry is hoping that Fury falls off the wagon somewhere along the line and he will want to do the fight then.

Re: How many more
There's no way Miller can be described as a top 5 heavyweight.
He's maybe top 5 of the available heavyweights that Joshua hasn't already fought but I'm not sure he even has a top 10 record yet let alone top 5

Re: How many more
I thought that Dillian Whyte was sorted for the next opponent - until he started talking about AJ and drug testing, then it seemed to fall apart.

Re: How many more
Personally I think AJ’s record is outstanding.
He fights quality opposition.
Miller isn’t poor he’s just unproven.
It’s got a bit of the Lewis-Grant fight about it.
If I was playing devils advocate the only criticism I’d have is he needs to be fighting 3 times a year as opposed to 2.
If the Miller fight does well stateside it would open more doors commercially.
If AJ goes Miller then Pulev this year I’d say it would be classed as a success.
He’s still got plenty of time and IMO probably 2-3 years away from his peak.
He’s far more likely to sustain a legacy than Fury or Wilder.
Fury is still unpredictable and another lay-off wouldn’t be a surprise. I also love the turn around and think he’s got star quality. But let’s not forget he’s a proven drug cheat.
Wilder could be outboxed or knocked out at anytime against top level opposition. I can’t see him remaining unbeaten for much longer (Fury boxed his ears off IMO)
Every era has a Heavyweight that defines THAT generation. I feel AJ will be this eras Heavy.
Granted we all want to see him in against Fury/Wilder but he’s being managed well and perfectly to have longevity.
Consistency and a sustained period at the top usually defines a great Heavyweight. AJ is in prime posistion to fit that bill. But it’s a 5 year plan not a 6 month one. People need to see the Miller fight for what it is. It’s his audition for an American audience and the commercial success that could bring.

Re: How many more
I think it's because as World Champion, people want to see him against the best rather than a top 10 fighter.
They have had plenty of opportunity to make Fury or Wilder and it hasn't happened.
Also of course it doesn't help that the rest in the top ten aren't exactly mouth watering prospects.
Also Eddie can't have it both ways, he puts AJ on a pedestal with wonderful marketing but ultimately if his ass doesn't cover the cheque she is writing, his fighter will be the first to be shot down.

Re: How many more
lol if fury and wilder are rematching and that was all a certainly right after the first fight then who are all these guys who wud be so much better then miller, the unbeaten top 10 hometown boy? lol as if miller wudnt be one of the very top wins for anyone else in the division
just remember the type of challengers in recent years, washington (battered by miller), duhaupas (beaten up by miller), shot arreola, leapai, pianeta, wach, molina, glazkov, stiverne 2, etc.
millers not terrible at all compared to the guys getting shots and hes prob the 2nd most deserving of guys who havent gotten a shot yet. the first is someone aj already knocked out.
ppl just love to moan

Yes, the Fury PR turnaround is amazing, no doubting that - but let him get his belt back vs Wilder and then see if the fight can be made.
1 - Fury will be a pretty warm favourite in the rematch.
2 - Most people seemed to have Fury a 2 - 4 round winner, despite TWO 10-8 rounds for Wilder. Discount the KD's any the fight would have been massively one sided. How could Wilder, a betting favourite, come out of the fight with his reputation enhanced..... how could Wilder a man of 40 odd fights, not KO Fury in the 12th after that massive KD.
3 - Yes, Fury has done amazingly well to turn his career around. Was it an "outstanding" performance a boxing masterclass or was it just a typical, spoiling, Fury performance - for the most part the latter. I don't think anyone came out of the fight and said "OMG, Fury is better than he was in 2015" - more like "OMG, Fury has exposed Wilder".
Hearn will be hoping Fury gets it next time - Fury vs Joshua is so much more a bigger fight than Fury vs Wilder now. Wilder is a belt holder who shouldn't be one.
Re: How many more
lol so typical from the anti aj crew, dont address the points actually made an instead just repeat 'eating up everything eddeh tells ya! 'matchroom slut!' 'y dont u stop blindly listening to aj'.........im sure mick and ewe have more
Re: How many more
Jamamb, I feel you man!
AJ is the best HW in the world today. He's plowing through the top contenders one at time and hasn't ducked anyone. He's ko'd all but one opponent. Much as I'm not his biggest fan, one can't deny his accomplishments nor him being the most complete HW out there. I just don't get the attacks anymore. Fury/Wilder are fighting each other for a second time and AJ has beaten most of the rest of the top 10, and will add another scalp in a few weeks. WTF?! Do folks want him to start fighting them two at a time? If I'm not mistaken, all of his defenses have been against ranked opponents.

oogiebe wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 18:35 People c'mon! I'm no AJ fan, but he's fighting the best available each and every fight with the only exception being Wilder (and I guess now Fury) but it's not his fault (nor Hearns) that Wilder/Fury happened and a rematch is in the works.
He sports the best HW resume by a mile. Miller is good enough to be top 5 HW or so. It's not AJ's fault that the talent level falls so far off after the top three. What else is there? Whyte II? Breazeale II? Povetkin II? (if my memory serves, he also beat Parker and picked up his belt along the way) Those are three (or 4 if you count Parker) of the current top 10 hw's in the world and he's already beaten them. Miller is next in line for sure. So AJ will have faced 5 of the top 10 HW's with two fighting each other. That leaves three (Pulev/Kownacki/Ortiz) he hasn't yet faced. That's pretty impressive.
Maybe now with Usyk in the mix (hopefully) we have another fight for AJ that will cause some excitement for now.

Re: How many more
People are just frustrated that the most obvious fight in the HW division didn't get made. All the hot air around the fight not happening didn't help either. But that's history now. Fury gatecrashed the party and we are where we are. Still, it's cool. The winners of Fury vs Wilder and Josh vs Miller have to meet, so it's not so bad. In the meantime, who will those winners be? This is boxing, anything can happen.

Do Wilder and Fury actually want the rematch?
It’s such a typical boxing standoff. You’ve got fish eyes saying if Joshua offers 50/50 then Fury would take it. No shite Sherlock!
Hearn saying nobody deserves 50% against Joshua right now ( probably true but we don’t give a Fvck ) Wilder changing his tune on a daily basis
Just fight already

Re: How many more
Wilder and Fury want the rematch. Both fighters know that with a clear-cut victory over the other, their showdown with AJ will be that much more profitable. I agree on not giving a shvt on the split with AJ, or anyone for that matter. It doesn't impact my bank account. Like you posted. "Just fight already." If all things go as planned, I can see the Wilder/Fury winner facing AJ late this year.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 13:24 Do Wilder and Fury actually want the rematch?
