I dunno, he's 35 and the last time I saw a picture of him he looked about 190 pounds. I have my doubts this is a serious comeback.
Re: MAIDANA COMING BACK! CONFIRMED DEAL WITH PBC? WHO YOU WANT TO SEE HIM FIGHT???
Rematches against Broner or Khan would be good.
I'd prefer him to have two or three bouts beforehand against journeymen to clear the ring rust, regain his fitness levels and lose some weight.
It won't happen because of boxing politics (i.e. DAZN versus PBC), but if his comeback bout is at 160lbs, I'd like to see David Lemieux try to make that weight once again to face the Argentine. That would be fun to watch.

Again, wtf are you talking about? Lemieux's now fighting at super middleweight as we stated he can't make middle and Maidana would never go that high for a fight.verlichte wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 10:08 Rematches against Broner or Khan would be good.

Maidana is a really big boy (he competed at 165lbs when he was a welterweight and he's even bigger now) and I did only say that "I'd like to see David Lemieux try to make that weight once again". Again, wtf you talking about? He competed at supper-middle while he was a welterweight? Did he split himself in two, one being 148lbs, the other 165lbs and fight himself?he competed at 165lbs when he was a welterweight
The heaviest he's ever fought at is 151lbs. If only there was an... umm.. website that listed all these facts... and you could check before making yourself like like the biggest idiot going. Ummmm a website with BOXING RECORDS... what shall we call it? Ummm... I know. Boxrec
I swear you either live in an alternative universe or sit there just making sh1t up. Either way, you're crazy

If he's in WW I want to see him fight Matthyse and depending on that if he'll go for Pac or Broner 2.

Last I heard, Matthysse is retired. Of course that could change at any moment, but for now.....
If we knew how much Maidana will weigh when (if) he returns, we could have a better handle on preferred opposition.
Best he just fights someone who won't kill a 35 year old, 5 year retired boxer who ballooned maybe 80 pounds in weight.
He may have next to nothing in the tank.
Maybe a Morales rematch is the best option.

Marcos Maidana's rehydration weight was typically 165lbs when he competed as a welterweight (as per his ring-weight for his 2014 Cinco De Mayo bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr. - he was the same weight against Adrien Broner also).
He's currently massively overweight right now. If he does make a ring return, I don't expect him to be able to return to welterweight immediately.
I believe David Lemieux’s typical rehydration weight was in the range of 174lbs to 179lbs.
If you think I'm wrong about Maidana's rehydration weight, then look it up and get back to me.

Yea saw cool photo of him smoking cigar, drinking whiskey and being a very large human being, probably be really hard on him to lose like 40 pounds and be good at age of 35. Must be desperate for money...I wish him the best he was a great action fighter...
Re: MAIDANA COMING BACK! CONFIRMED DEAL WITH PBC? WHO YOU WANT TO SEE HIM FIGHT???
I'm actually really saddened that he's coming back.
He earned a lot of money in the two fights with Mayweather and has been out of the sport for some time now.
I hope he hasn't burned through all of that money, that would be sad.

When you're 35 years old, retired 5 years and have allowed yourself to become obese, be assured that the only reason that Maidana is returning is because "he burned through all that money."
Certainly awakening before dawn to do miles and miles of roadworks, isn't seductive enough to lure him back.

Re: MAIDANA COMING BACK! CONFIRMED DEAL WITH PBC? WHO YOU WANT TO SEE HIM FIGHT???
If he does make a comeback, it won't initially be at welterweight.
Re: MAIDANA COMING BACK! CONFIRMED DEAL WITH PBC? WHO YOU WANT TO SEE HIM FIGHT???
He's definitely coming back at welterweight. The fighters being bandied about have been:
Pacquiao
Broner (allegedly already in the comeback plan)
Porter
Thurman
Spence/Garcia winner
Seems a bit ambitious to me.

I strongly doubt that he can fight any top WW if he somehow manages to make 147 which is unlikely.
Re: MAIDANA COMING BACK! CONFIRMED DEAL WITH PBC? WHO YOU WANT TO SEE HIM FIGHT???
Bandied about for setting up some fights, not initial fight. Says he's "dipping his toe" into the deep end of the division.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑15 Feb 2019, 20:02 I strongly doubt that he can fight any top WW if he somehow manages to make 147 which is unlikely.
Re: MAIDANA COMING BACK! CONFIRMED DEAL WITH PBC? WHO YOU WANT TO SEE HIM FIGHT???
He was never a big welterweight. He’s 5’7” and was shredded at 140 but was clearly carrying a bit of timber (for a boxer anyway) up at 147. He is too small for light middle or middle.verlichte wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 10:36Maidana is a really big boy (he competed at 165lbs when he was a welterweight and he's even bigger now) and I did only say that "I'd like to see David Lemieux try to make that weight once again". Yep it ain’t like he’s coming back to regain a title. Look at the crop around. Spence, Garcia at welter, Hurd and Munguia at light middle, Canelo, GGG at middle. After 5 years out all should beat him easilySenorPipino wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 15:03
