Filip Hrgovic Inks Co-Promotional Pact With Eddie Hearn

Filip Hrgovic has signed a co-promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing and Team Sauerland, with his future fights to be screened exclusively live on DAZN in the US and Sky Sports in the UK.

The Rio 2016 Olympic Bronze Medallist has made a blistering start to his professional career, racing to seven wins from seven fights – with five of those wins coming by knockout – since making his pro debut in September 2017.

Ranked in the top ten in the World with the WBA, the 26-year-old Croatian star already finds himself being positioned for a World title fight, having been matched aggressively from the very start of his career.

Great move as Hrgovic seems ready for the next step of his career and needs to get a step up fight or two as he still has some developmental needs and requires more "in-ring" experience before that world title shot mentioned in the article.

Hearn has quite a stable of Heavyweights signed to Matchroom, on co-promotional deals or on DAZN (easier to make fights) now. Should be a good selection for those looking to increase their level of opposition. Would love to see him in against the Hunter/Takam winner (if that fight does get made as discussed).

Now minimal experience gets you fast tracked to a championship fight.

That one of the reasons that there are so many flash in the pans.

Things have really moved fast for him, and the article mentions "slowing it down" in 2019, which I think is a smart idea considering he has just seven fights and is only 26, which is young for a HW these days.

Dont think that's an accurate comparison. For one thing, Hrgovic probably will not get an actual world title shot until he's had 12-15 pro fights or more. Plus Hrgovic is a legit super heavy at 6'6" and 225+ pounds. People forget Spinks was only a light-heavy when he won Olympic gold in 1976 and weighed only 197 when he beat Ali.

But I do acknowledge that signing with Hearn should get Filip a world title shot sooner than if he didnt have a well-connected promoter like Matchroom. Hearn is smart enough to avoid rushing Hrgovic into a title bout before he is ready.

hgrovic has been boxing longer than AJ. that being said still probably not ready just yet but. olympic medal, about 30 WSB fights, that are paid, no headgear bouts, no singlets (closer to pros than ams in my opinion).

If he had 30 mediocre pro fights on his record then got some decent wins people would say he is overdue, why is a shit pro fight better experence than a decent scrap in WSB.

Wilder only had 4 or so meaningful fights on his his record befor he got a shot. AJ not many more. in 4 or 5 decent fights time i think hgrovic will be ready for a shot.
