Jack Sharkey filmed fights (1924-1936)
I was watching the film THE BIG SLEEP starring Humphrey Bogart as Private Eye Philip Marlowe
( filmed late 1944) and in Marlowe's office I noticed some pictures hanging on his wall in his office.
One was a portrait from the 1930's of Jim J.Jeffries in a white dinner jacket
and the photo in a frame next to it was Jack Sharkey (World HW Champion 1931-32) in a fighting pose,
so that inspired this thread.

Re: Jack Sharkey filmed fights (1924-1936)
I wish there was a film of Jack Sharkey's fights against George Godfrey and Harry Wills exist. However, there was a picture of Sharkey's fight with Harry Wills, who held up his hands before being disqualified for holding Sharkey a lot.

Re: Jack Sharkey filmed fights (1924-1936)
dang dude, do you think you could edit those youtube video's into chronicallogical order like was done with the first three fights of his posted here ?
( for example) Jack Sharkey did not have a fight in 1934.)
That was the plan when I started this thread,to view Jack Sharkey's boxing career as it developed and to study it for future referance.
BTW
here is the live CBS radio broadcast of the Louis vrs Sharkey fight (someone must have recorded it on a wax cylinder).
Re-Live the Excitement !

Re: Jack Sharkey filmed fights (1924-1936)
I remember back in the day here,we sometimes did "in-depth" chronological threads on some fighters.
Not only filmed fights but by "fight by fight" i.e links to (free) archive newspaper accounts and interviews,
but I seem to remember we did at least two one on Joe Bugner's career and the other on Cleveland Williams,
but those threads included stuff by Il Dueche and they was vapourized and messed it all up,so really don't want to go to the trouble of doing something like that just to have it vanish over-night..

Re: Jack Sharkey filmed fights (1924-1936)
I thought I would include some interesting quotes and trivia about Jack Sharkey however.
such as ,did you know that Jack Sharkey said that he could never sleep on the Eve of a fight ?
( so he must have been already really tired climbing into the ring the next evening )
and here is what Jack Dempsey said about him after their fight in 1927.
"Sharkey gave me living hell for the first five rounds and was as good a fighter as I have ever seen".
