The fight would be the Carlos Monzon that destroyed Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles or the Marvelous that stopped Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns.

Ahhh, if you're using prime monzon against post prime hagler I'd have to change my vote.

Used to think Hagler could win this by close Ud, but if you could get into Marvin's head, you could do some things. Carlos Monzon by MD.

No doubt about getting into Hagler's head. Nobody would get into Monzon's head.

That would be amazing to win when you literally had no clear advantage in the fight. Hacker definitely had some stage fright against Duran, he still won clearly.

I should clarify that I'm not saying hagler was clearly better at everything. Several very close categories, just none you can give monzon a clear check mark on like haglers speed, punching power and versatility. Things like chin and stamina that Carlos has on most any fighter ever is at best a wash here.

Me and my dad and his friends would have this discussion all the time back in the day..during the Hagler era......they all thought Monzon would handle Hagler, I liked marvelous... these older gentleman were diehard knowledgeable boxing fans... that seen everything since 1935-....I've held firm with Hagler through the years but the older I get I'm starting to think the ol guys were right..
