Queensbury Live press conference on YouTube now.

Post by Cyclops »

Fwank announces deal with ESPN. Fury comes on and says the same stuff he's been saying for months without anything new or of interest. No Wilder rematch announced, no other potential opponents announced, no dates. Fury says he wants AJ but 50/50 or nothing. Fury leaves. Dubois the charisma vacuum makes Joe Joyce sound like Ali. Anthony Yarde offers little else. All a bit boring.

"I want to box and win"

Edit: oh here's Billy Joe Saunders.

Hopefully fury signing with arum doesn't squash the rematch. He's going to fight twice a year in the States. Odd decision.

He said 3 times a year so is that twice in the US and one in the UK? I was drifting off as the whole thing was extraordinarily dull.

So the rematch with Wilder now can’t be on Showime PPV because Fury’s exclusive to ESPN?

That's what Rafael said. Doesn't leave many opponents for twice a year.

You would hope they got an exception.

More 'negotiations' shite, pissing contests, arguments about percentages and crap opponents. I bet the number of posters who have seen Billy Joe's next opponent fight is in single fingers.

Boxing fucks itself in the arse once again.

Shame Fury is too scared of Joshua to fight him for less than 50-50...

Fury no doubt felt the power and figured he would leave the rematch alone.

Wilder and his team will be absolutely enraged this morning - by this evening when the news properly filters around the US I’m expecting some serious stuff online.

Surely the fight can still happen if it goes to purse bids? if Fury doesn't face Wilder next who is he going to face? Rivas? Pulev? the only good thing about Fury vs Pulev is it would make fury number 1 with the ibf and mandatory to Joshua.

I don't think he's scared. It's a weird pride thing. I think he deserves the 50/50 and I think he'll get it eventually. There's just too much money in it for everybody involved to not finally work something out. It's just boring waiting around for it while. AJ, Fury and Wilder should be fighting trilogies, not swerving each other and haggling over percentages. They're all super rich anyway.

A deal would be worked out. Just because someone is exclusive to a network doesn’t prevent them from appearing on other networks full stop. That’s where purse bids come in too.

I’m a touch worried Fury doesn’t fancy the rematch. I wouldn’t be surprised if either fancied it.

If that is the case then after he deals with Miller, it’s set up perfectly for Joshua v Wilder.
The winner of that is the absolute king of the show and has all the belts and the much bigger slice of any mandatory that Fury lands

If Fury is Joshua’s mandatory, he loses his 50/50 demand surely?

yes exactly and it may not 60-40 either so surely if Fury is going to fight for a world title whilst getting paid well it would be in a rematch vs Wilder next and then he can try and get 50/50 vs Joshua

It can happen, but it usually doesn't.

Fury does'nt want it , he's signed this deal to get out of it , he's now going to fight lower teir , and keep calling out AJ for 50-50 if and when he becomes a mandatory he will not accept purse bids , he'll be content to sit back and talk the fight , with 50-50 a way out ,
