did these guys retire

Post by jamamb »

dusty harrison hasnt fought since beating thomas lamanna in 2016: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/571019

julian ramirez hasnt fought since losing a controversial decision to abraham lopez in 2016: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/597483

steve geffrard hasnt fought since stopping dimitry sukhotsky back in 2016: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/642474

geffrards career i found interesting becausue he was a top us amateur, winning all three of the major us titles in one year (the PAL, the usa nationals, and the national golden gloves) but he lost his first 2 pro fights. he then scored 16 straight wins and was staying very active and seemed back on track, but now he hasnt fought since 2016, when he won against probably his biggest name opponent for a wbo regional belt.

there will probably be more names i have questions about later and will prob bump this thread

I was just wondering what happened to Richard Towers. Last fought 2014. Win over journeyman.

I am too lazy to google it

Juan Diaz is another one - wasn't he a mandatory for some belt - had some injuries but has dissapeared.

Wasn't he mandatory for Flanagan or something?

Yeah, it's funny how often fighters who appear to be on track for bigger & better things just seem to fall off the face of the earth & basically, ghost on the sport.
I'm assuming that there is a myriad of reasons behind such instances from managerial/promotional issues to personal problems, legal troubles, injuries, illness etc.. And some just lose interest in the game, give it up & get regular jobs.

Harrison fights tonight in a 6-rounder in West Virginia...

http://boxrec.com/en/event/779915

UPDATE: Harrison was listed on the pre-fight schedule vs "TBA" but apparently the bout was scrapped because the post-fight results dont have him listed.

I see loads of unbeaten lads that retired for whatever reason whilst searching the boxrec database, I always wondered about the Canadian lad that beat Micheal Gale for the commonwealth then disappeared although I’m sure someone once answered this for me but have forgotten!

Shawn Estrada looked like good prospect few years ago, then he disapeared.
