Mickey Walker vs Tony Galento
Mickey Walker vs Tony Galento
Who would win this match up between "The Toy Bulldog" who fought great fighters from welterweight up to heavyweight and won both World Welterweight and Middleweight Titles or "Two Ton" Tony a rough and tough brawler heavyweight who fought great fighters, including the legendary "Brown Bomber" Joe Louis for his World Heavyweight Title in 15 rounds in the battle of New Jersey? Walker fought great heavyweights with the likes of World Heavyweight Champion in Max Schmeling and Jack Sharkey and contenders like Paolino Uzcudun, Johnny Risko and Ed "Bearcat" Wright to name some and would he beat "Two Ton" Tony or Tony would fight dirty and beat Walker by TKO or decision him because Walker had a good chin?
Re: Mickey Walker vs Tony Galento
This is oddly an interesting one. Walker an atg and galento...not. But galento was hard and rough and so much bigger.
Walker did draw with Sharkey and beat wright.
I see a prime walker having some rocky moments including a kd but winning by decision

Yes, Walker would outslug Galento with his lighter weight between 165 to 179 lbs and using his speed along with his heavy punches to take a decision is the most likely outcome should it happened.
Re: Mickey Walker vs Tony Galento
Galento was a much bigger puncher than Sharkey.

Would go with Walker. Galento was terrible. His whole career is based on the knockdown of Louis.
Re: Mickey Walker vs Tony Galento
I bet it would be a classic along with dirty and rough tactics.

By far the biggest name on his record. By all accounts, he was lucky not to get disqualified. Watch the Baer fight. Watch the rest of the Louis fight. Look at his overall record. He was not a good fighter.

Great clip! Galento and Walker looked like two guys with a good sense of humor - and Walker looked like an good artist too, tho his perspective was a bit parsimonious, or whatever it was that Tony said!

A crude boxer who could hit hard.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑01 Mar 2019, 12:33 By far the biggest name on his record. By all accounts, he was lucky not to get disqualified. Watch the Baer fight. Watch the rest of the Louis fight. Look at his overall record. He was not a good fighter.
But he had a successful career for being so limited.
And here we are 70 plus years later still talking about him
