I can remember that he (and Wilder, too) had been considered not so long ago (ten years, maybe) as a most promising American HW, on some sporting tv's in my country (or region, I am not sure, because there are several countries around me with the same/or nearly the same language).
So, "the experts" failed, again.....................

He was a college football player. Nobody here expected much from him or wilder.

Fat cruiserweight Jonathan Banks KO’d him and then almost KO’d him again by accident in the rematch he was supposed to throw. It was like Snatch where Brad Pitt is supposed to lose to Scott Welsh but almost KO’s him without trying and has to stand off and pretend to take a beating.

Whoever had paid Banks off was obviously more frightening than Brick Top though because he let Mitchell off the hook and allowed him to win on points. But both lost an awful lot of credibility there.

It’s the most blatantly “thrown” fight I can think of. Terrible chin.

You’ve answered your own question, really.

Maybe he didn't like boxing all that much and was simply wise enough to walk away when he realized he had too many flaws to succeed at a high level.

I think he wanted to continue but was talked out of it.

I'm glad if that's true.

Getting blasted out quick by Banks and Arreola doesn't say much for your boxing future.
