Okidokee! To each his own. I'll decide after I see him fight a more challenging opponent. Maybe I'm wrong, or it's taste or something, but he is so painfully slow I can't stand watching him.gilgamesh wrote: ↑23 Feb 2019, 21:50Fun as hell to watch. I don't care that he lacks speed. He's aggressive, and steadily on the attack with big shots in combination, on top of that he has a leaky defense, and gets caught with heavy shots himself. What's not to like?oogiebe wrote: ↑23 Feb 2019, 21:46You think he's fun to watch? He's like "the Mummy." Painfully slow. Slo-mo-Joe! I agree Stiverne hit him a really good right in the first round flush, and Joyce walked right through it. Highlight of the fight.gilgamesh wrote: ↑23 Feb 2019, 21:34 Just got home, and got to watch this fight. Very good showing by Joyce. He's fun as hell to watch. Showed a good chin too as Stiverne landed some real solid rights in the 1st, but Joyce took 'em well. I definitely look forward to seeing a lot more of Joyce. You gotta figure his flaws will catch up to him against the Elite guys, but win or lose he'll be fun to watch almost always I'd imagine given the way he fights. I'm a fan.

Joyce is about 15% slower than most of the top 12 guys. Joyce Vs Parker would be terrible.

Stevens was so out of shape and old. This fight only proves that Joyce is not nearly as good as some say.

I watched this in the cinema on the big screen and it was a fun fight,Stiverne, despite being basically retired, overweight and 40 years old his hand speed was far superior to slo Joe's.He's as strong as an ox but god awful to watch.oogiebe wrote: ↑23 Feb 2019, 21:46You think he's fun to watch? I've never seen slow boating before last night.
Funny he took so long to do his anti-clockwise movement that he go clipped

Yeh. And he wanted to go 6-8 rounds.. he got that.. he showed good chin against someone who can punch, had experience, even though it was quite one-sided.samwbr wrote: ↑24 Feb 2019, 04:40Pathetic? He was getting hit too clean IMO

He is a good way below the top 3 but hes keen to get involved and isn't phased by it.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑24 Feb 2019, 06:06Yeh. Joyce is really poor.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Bermane Stiverne - 23 February 2019
Joyce gets hit too easily, or at least he did last night. If he gets caught like this further on up the line by someone who can really punch, he's going to get hurt. He has a good workrate but needs to work on his head movement really badly.

He’s not that good, but neither are most of the heavyweight division outside of the top 3.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Bermane Stiverne - 23 February 2019
Joyce ain't much cop at all, just can pressure well when he wants to
Lucky he's in a weak division

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Bermane Stiverne - 23 February 2019
Joyce is no George Foreman but if Big George had turned pro today I'd imagine we'd all be saying hes too slow and plodding to become HW champ and he turned out to be one of the best
I think Fury outboxes Joyce and Wilder hits too hard for someone as stationary as him but I think that Joshua fight could be interesting especially when AJ tires around the middle rounds, if Joyce was to make it that far then his relentless pressure could prove tough for Joshua
For the record I believe Joshua to be the best heavyweight around but styles and all that

So far, Joyce has been able to set the pace for every fight and every round he's fought. Once that can no longer be the case, he'll tire quickly. He's no match for Joshua at this point, and IMHO, he never will be. Wilder would spark him as Joyce is easy to hit and has no head movement. Fury would outbox him easily.handsofstone wrote: ↑24 Feb 2019, 10:10 Joyce is no George Foreman but if Big George had turned pro today I'd imagine we'd all be saying hes too slow and plodding to become HW champ and he turned out to be one of the best

Outside of the top 3 it's in a sorry state
But that's boxing,opinions differ,
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Bermane Stiverne - 23 February 2019
The top three are competitive with each other. The rest of the top 10/15 are pretty competitive with one another. Not saying the division is strong or weak. There are a lot of good matches to be made.Oiky wrote: ↑24 Feb 2019, 11:25Outside of the top 3 it's in a sorry statei very much doubt Joyce can beat any of the top 3,you've got Ortiz, other than that imo it is a weak division, don't know what you's two see in it that makes it so competitive outside of the fact for fury, wilder & Joshua its competitive
But that's boxing,opinions differ,
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Bermane Stiverne - 23 February 2019
Yeah there are certain match ups that are competitive I agree with you there but for me the division as a whole isn't very strong, that might not make much sense considering I've agreed there is competitive fights out there but as a whole I don't think it's that greatoogiebe wrote: ↑24 Feb 2019, 11:28The top three are competitive with each other. Re: Joe Joyce vs. Bermane Stiverne - 23 February 2019
Why do think he'll tire quickly? while I agree he sets the pace I imagine he'll always fight at that high pace while he can, his pace and punch output is what makes up for the other flaws, surely he knows if hes to compete at the higher level then he has to dictate thr pace of the fight, he's far from perfect but hes got a superb engine and a decent beard , him and Kownacki would be entertainingoogiebe wrote: ↑24 Feb 2019, 10:12So far, Joyce has been able to set the pace for every fight and every round he's fought.
