Round is a shape!
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Bermane Stiverne - February 23, 2019
..Stiverne was 20 pounds heavier than usual and with all due respect looked more like a punching bag..should seriously consider hanging them up for good before it's too late..
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Bermane Stiverne - February 23, 2019
Stiverne was a walking punching-ball but still managed to get some shots on that robot called Joe Joyce. He should take this last check and hang it up, while Joyce... he will need lots of luck against top guys

Totally agree. While I was watching (particularly the first round) I was like, man if this dude took this fight seriously he may have been able to win. He was landing that overhand right and left hook counter all round. Dumbass.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑24 Feb 2019, 15:23He must be kicking himself this morning. That was a winnable fight.

That's an insult to Tate.oogiebe wrote: ↑18 Jan 2019, 12:34Why? Just because he's painfully slow and wide open? It won't be this fight, but as soon as Joyce fights a decent boxer, he'll be exposed for what he is. A slower version of Big John Tate.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑18 Jan 2019, 12:31I don't ever see Joyce as a serious contender. Shockingly slow hands.tiny_acres wrote: ↑17 Jan 2019, 21:44 Stiverne is shot to bits. If this takes over 2 rounds for Joyce I'll be questioning if he is a possible contender or not

Charr is nothing more than a paper champion. So far no 2016 Olympian has won a major world title as a pro. If Joyce faces and defeats a mediocre scrub like Charr he should NOT be recognized as the first 2016 Olympic boxer to win a major world pro title because Charr is not a legit world champ.
The first 2012 Olympian to win a major world title as a pro was Lomachenko, followed by Usyk, AJ and Oscar Valdez.

Murodjon Akhmadaliev could become the first 2016 Olympic medallist to become a world champion in the pro ranks, because I’m led to believe the winner of the WBA-IBF super bantamweight title unification bout (between Daniel Roman and TJ Doheny) will be obliged to perform a mandatory defence of their WBA title against the Uzbekistani youngster.Best Coast wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 03:11So far no 2016 Olympian has won a major world title as a pro...
In my opinion, Shakur Stevenson is probably the next most likely 2016 Olympian to become a world champion in the pro ranks, closely followed by Joshua Buatsi and Shakhram Giyasov.
I am supremely confident that Joe Joyce will never become a legitimate world champion by capturing a title from one of the big four governing bodies. The Brit’s handlers may be able to strategically manoeuvre his career towards gaining a secondary title by cherry-picking a highly-vulnerable opponent though.

Glad you agree that Joyce will not be considered a major world champ in the pros if he cherry-picks a paper champ like mediocre Manuel Charr.Eolaithe wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 07:55Murodjon Akhmadaliev could become the first 2016 Olympic medallist to become a world champion in the pro ranks, because I’m led to believe the winner of the WBA-IBF super bantamweight title unification bout (between Daniel Roman and TJ Doheny) will be obliged to perform a mandatory defence of their WBA title against the Uzbekistani youngster.Best Coast wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 03:11So far no 2016 Olympian has won a major world title as a pro...

As far as Akhmadaliev, he could become the first 2016 Olympian (not just Olympic medalist) to win a major world title as a pro. To the best of my knowledge NO 2016 Olympic boxer has won a major world pro title so far.
Correct me if I am wrong but so far the only 2 Olympic boxers from 2016 Games to fight to world titles have been Mikhail Aloyan and Paddy Barnes, who both came up short.
I agree that Stevenson, Giyasov and Buatsi (along with Teo Lopez & Akhmadaliev) could well become the first 2016 OG fighters to win a pro world belt.
Last I heard Akhmadaliev vs WBA super bantam champ Daniel Roman was supposed to go to purse bids on Feb 13. Any idea how that turned out?

The WBA Champions Committee has postponed the three purse bids that were happening February 6th, they are rescheduled to February 13th. The bids will be made on the following bouts: Daniel Roman vs Murdjon Akmadiev for the super bantamweight title

On the 6th February, the WBA approved the WBA-IBF super bantamweight title unification bout between Daniel Roman and TJ Doheny.Best Coast wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 23:00Last I heard Akhmadaliev vs WBA super bantam champ Daniel Roman was supposed to go to purse bids on Feb 13. Four days ago, it was claimed that the bout between Daniel Roman and TJ Doheny will take place on the 26th April, as a co-feature to the main event (Sor Rungvisai-Estrada II).
The WBA have said that the winner will be obliged to make a WBA title defence against mandatory challenger Murodjon Akhmadaliev.
I also believe you’re right about there not being any 2016 Olympian having won a major world title as a pro.

You can't always tell. This poster frequently tends to have his own unique take on reality. That's not necessarily a bad thing of course, it's good to get a different perspective from another planet.oogiebe wrote: ↑26 Feb 2019, 13:57Round is a shape! Stiverne didn't look like he did much more than walk past the gym but he came to fight and took his lumps like a warrior. He has earned back some respect from me, but he should hang 'em up now.

He should fight Curtis Parker and then they can walk out of the ring together after the opening bell. A fitting goodbye to both!candyslim wrote: ↑26 Feb 2019, 17:42You can't always tell.
