Eubank Snr & the ITV Drama

Post by SAPFO »

He keeps referring to the fact that he's had some family trouble due to the ITV deal. What's he on about?

Only a guess but his daughter is with Frank Smith who has publicly said he tried to get junior to matchroom. Maybe Emily thought her dad should trust frank over Haymon

Think it might have been because Seb Eubank was pulled from the card. Dunno why he never fought though as he was scheduled to box.

He was a floater. But ITV decided to have more boxing talk to build up the main event so his fight was scrapped.

I cannot see how him talking about people trying to interfere, and him remaining true in his belief in the ITV PPV model and suggestions of long-term issues and problems bubbling in the background could possibly translate to Seb being pulled from the card on the actual night.

One is a snap decision issue on the night and the other is long term

Not sure on the logic of what you just said tbh

I reckon Trafford is right here. His daughter Emily has been with Frank Smith for a couple of years so it probably got a bit tense with them not working with Sky.

Youre absolutely right.

Eubank snr was talking about these issues days before the night of the fight. His comments had nothing to do with Seb but I think more do the fact that he was trying to evidence his loyalty to ITV (probably to get better leverage with them) in the face of criticism from others and the obvious obstacles that a TV station goes through when it enters into the boxing PPV arena.

Nice touch of senior to wear his US state police badge into the ring on his designer suit. He really is a grade A crank and he never fails to amuse and delight me.

Wasn’t he supposed to fight after the main event anyway?

I'm sure the main event was delayed due an ambulance requirement to be on stand by and there not being one as tubby was in it following his fight with Joyce. Meaning Sebs bout was cancelled. Could be wrong though.

Yeh he did. On the running Order, there was at least 2-3 fights on as a floater after the main event.
