I thought this OP meant career wise. Mike Weaver is in that category too. He had Holmes in trouble and had a version of the title. Before that, he managed to lose to both Bobicks and even worse.

Yup, but can't remember the guy's name. Messi did come back, but only briefly and without any huge success.

Mesi beat Jirov by a close UD but Jirov dropped him and repeatedly hit to the back of the head. I watched the fight back when it happened but haven't seen it since so me memory is a little foggy. At least one of the knockdowns was from a rabbit punch but I don't remember if they all were. Effectively ended Mesi's career.
