Eubank has world class exposure and promotion but he clearly isn’t a world class fighter.
I am however a big fan. He is enigmatic and causes debate and stirs interest.
He is clearly ruthless and bloody minded and seemingly not particularly warm, personable nor likeable.
His story is an interesting one and his toughness, fitness and drive are something quite exceptional. However, world class boxing requires much more than this and sadly he is far too crude. But he gives anyone an uncomfortable night and regardless of whether he lost a decision to Groves handily or not he was putting Groves under huge, massive pressure in the last round of their fight which I am certain contributed to Groves dislocating his shoulder. And something which isn’t lost on Groves who was quite respectful of junior last night. Let’s not also forget that Groves was a huge super-middleweight and Junior isn’t even a big middleweight.
Junior deserves props for last night’s effort. However, factor in that Degale was badly shot and it is obvious to even the blind that Junior isn’t at the top of the food chain. But to his credit he can only beat the man in front of him and he did that. Also his unrelenting belief in himself is sometimes too much for many to warm to him.
I hope under his new trainer he can really develop his boxing but I suspect it is little too late. I hope I am wrong but the odds will be against Junior in that regard.
One thing is for certain though, without Junior on the British Boxing scene, things would be much less interesting.
Good post mate, really good points there
Think they need to match him carefully. Handled right it could be a decent run on ITV PPV for a while, earning well, etc. Can't see him vs BJS or Callum Smith this year, what with rival promoters, and TV companies and all that. They kind of need to dig somebody up for him - a big name, but past it. Nothing obvious springs to mind but I suppose they can trawl 160lbs upwards.
Eubank has always been matched well and I guess he will continue to be.
With his natural attributes he will do better at MW and not against the slicksters.
He will be good value against everyone though.

Eubank Golovkin is a fight I would love to see, we have absolutely seen the best of a 36 year GGG now, and whilst 3 years ago he would destroy Eubank, now its a lovely 50/50 chin checking slug fest
Well done you became the least knowledgeable poster on this forum. Says a lot
And sorry, couldn’t resist adding to that. You do know GGG beat Canelo for a second time in most experts eyes
Yes I know that.
Yet you will never see that GGG again. I'm assuming you thought the De Gale of five years ago was going to beat Eubank the other night.?, that Ali was going to beat Larry Holmes in the 80's because of his win over Liston in the 60's?. Even if they fought next, GGG would be 37, the two Canelo fights would have emptied the tank pretty much entirely, and made him a very rich man. Combine this with with a near year out of the ring and what you will have is an opportunity to take on a former great at his most vulnerable. Whoever GGG fights next at world level will be a value bet to beat him, primarily because of this 'expert' opinion you speak of.

David Lemieux would be a good opponent. Someone to make Eubank look good.
In terms of British fights there isn't really much. Callum Smith is off the table. He could always get someone up from 154. Brook for a big british fight for example. Liam Smith would be a pretty easy fight and would probably do good numbers with the ITV buildup. Other names that come to mind, Rocky Fielding, John Ryder. All pretty easy wins.

Are you comparing Chris fvcking Eubank Jr with Larry Holmes?
GGG showed a chin vs Canelo last time. Canelo came for a fight and GGG was happy to fight off the backfoot all night. I thought that was a clear win for Canelo. I don't think eubank is out of his depth vs GGG at all. Eubank has been campaigning at 168 and would be fighting a natural 160 pounder. He wouldn't have to go far to find GGGs chin in there either. Eubank looks like he inherited his dad's chin so he would probably be able to absorb GGGs shots. I don't think that's a stretch to think Eubank can stand up to the punches. It would be an exceptional fight to watch.
I'd be more hesitant about it if I didn't just see GGG basically get out manned by Canelo, who came up from 147. Jacobs also arguably beat him.

OMG the level of boxing knowledge on this forum has gone from bad to bonkers
Comparing Eubank with Holmes?
Eubank was way way way out of his depth vs Groves but isn't vs GGG? My God
Eubank had a half decent win against a sorry sight of a Degale half the fighter he was
GGG can't fight like Groves. He is much more limited. Not saying Groves would beat GGG at his best. But groves is clearly the more skilled fighter of the two. He was also more skilled than Froch and we know how that went.

He really isn't. Groves is one of my favourite fighters ever, but GGG had over 300 amatuer fights. He outboxed Canelo for large periods of their 2 fights and Canelo is top 2/3 p4p. In most experts eyes, GGG won a points decision twice vs Canelo. 1) Eubank isn't a good boxer, he can only slug... so he won't outbox GGG. 2) GGG has an ATG chin and if they go toe-to-toe, who do you think's gonna win those exchanges. I'll give you a clue... he's not from Brighton

you've got a weird fvcking thing for Eubank mate, no offence. didnt picking him to beat Groves help you learn the lesson?

Well I don't think Eubank would win a round vs Canelo if that helps.

So in conclusion, you think Eubank would give GGG a good fight but you don't think Eubank would win a single round vs Cancelo, yet GGG won 13-16 out of 24 rounds vs Canelo in most experts view (or at least 10 rounds if you preferred Canelo, no one thought he won less than that) but you still think GGG vs Eubank would be competitive? Sorry, what part of that makes any sense?

It's just my assessment based on styles. Frazier gave Ali 3 good fights. Ali gave Foreman a very tough fight and a bit of a hiding when you actually watch the fight, Ali was in total control of the fight for most of the contest. However, Frazier got starched by Foreman twice, winning no rounds and many feared for his health as he was punched into mid air by Foreman.

i get your point, things can change fast with fighters, although tbf degales last two meaningful fights before this were 1-1 very tough fights with caleb truax, whereas ggg still just went super close with a top p4p fighterr
thats nothing like a guy being obviously shot or pretty much kaput before hand. ggg still showed high quality even though he lost
I think Eubank Jnr came along at MW at a bad time. He had his opportunity and decided against it, so moved up to a very weak division. He should have been pushing for a Gilberto Ramirez bout, he’d have a chance there.
